I have not posted anything of substance in a very long time. I am a bad, bad blogger.
Evelyn's birthday party turned out well on Sunday. I made a lot of soup and a ham and I was all stressed out but everything was fine, of course. Evie received much less pink than I expected. Poor baby, though. My parents are buying her a swingset, but they haven't found one yet. They have a raincheck for one at Meijer but guess what? They won't guarantee it because it's so late in the season now. Excuse me? It is past swingset season? It hasn't even fully warmed up yet! What the heck. Anyway, so there's one gift she didn't actually receive. Then we bought her a water table (thanks to those of you who suggested it!) and she was all excited about it, but when we put it together, I found a large crack in the thing, so we had to send it back. We bought it from Amazon, and whereas I was kind of worried about dragging that huge box off to ship it? They sent someone out to the house today to pick it up. How nice! I <3 Amazon. So there is her other big gift that she cannot actually play with yet. I know, the child is totally deprived. Except for one sorrowful outburst regarding the swingset we kept talking about but never materialized and a bit of irritation with the broken water table that we were trying to put back into the box against her will, she has barely even noticed. I love how distractible kids can be.
Today was not such a fantastic day, sadly. I don't know what the deal was with her but she was driving me batty. She was whiny and uncooperative and she wanted completely off-the-wall things. Like... the first time she really got in trouble this morning was when she started biting a DVD. What the..? Why would she even want to do that? My family has commented about how she was good at not putting things into her mouth when she was a baby. I don't know what has changed but I have had to take several things away from her recently because she keeps sticking them in her mouth. Anyway, M took her off to Walmart this evening and we were able to take a break from each other. That helped. I think I was getting on her nerves too.
Again with the falling asleep in the chair. Third night in a row and really, I have been sleeping more than usual. I think maybe I need to head to bed.
