Confession: I don't really know how to properly peel and slice apples. They always turn out messy and jagged and they often break in two. Consequently, I rarely snack on apples even though they taste good and when I do eat one, I think I should eat them all the time. I was just sitting here thinking about a snack and remembered that I had one Gala apple left. Galas are my favorite. Knowing this? A legacy of my produce market days. :) And you don't have to feel guilty about eating apples! I have way too much junk around the house now. If people would stop giving it away I would stop taking it! Unfortunately, this nursing mom rather feels like she can eat whatever the heck she wants. I am afraid that this mindset is not good for my long-term health. :) I am just so hungry all the time still.
Guess what I did today? I went shopping, and I didn't even use a single coupon! I feel so dirty.
Guess what E did today? She played her first video game! M and I haven't played Wii in ages, but we turned it on tonight and played boxing. I don't know if I have mentioned this, but I kick ass at the wii boxing game. I slaughter M (and anyone else I've played) and honestly, I don't know how I do it. I mean, yes, it's completely skill and strategy. It's great fun though. Anyway, she was thrilled to watch us boxing. She was jumping and clapping and laughing and looking from the screen to us to the screen again. It may very well have been the most fun we've ever had as parents so far because she was so so funny. After we were done, I gave the controllers to her and let her play. (Yes, she has her own Mii [character that kinda looks like her]--I made it as soon as we got the thing.) She had the remote in her right hand and the nunchuk in her left and I showed her that she was supposed to jab with them. It really isn't much more sophisticated than that even when you're really playing, after all! The opponent at that level pretty much just stands there and lets you wallop on him, except for the occasional random hit. I helped her a couple of times, but none of the three rounds were exactly finished decisively... but in the end, her character actually WON. She played and WON. It was so funny. She was so proud of herself, too. I think maybe letting her do that might have been a bad idea, though, since she may not ever want to do anything else.
On the other hand, she played all day with a metal measuring cup and plastic measuring spoon (which she pilfered from the cabinet while I was trying to make potato soup for lunch) so I guess her tastes are not normally that sophisticated. Which also, I just noticed that my metal measuring cups are the perfect size and shape to be (smallish) cookers for her play kitchen! And I just so happen to have a spare set unopened! It was clearly meant to be.
