I'm feeling so darned proud of myself for getting some of my to-do list things done today. I had a call yesterday while we were gone about a job in Louisville, and I had to call the guy back. I get seriously anxious over the process of applying for jobs. Anyway, it's not permanent and doesn't pay quite enough to warrant moving to Louisville, but at least I called. I also ordered checks. And M went off town to run errands, so I wrapped up a couple of small packages and he dropped them off at the post office--so if I said I would send you something, it's on its way.

I really need to decide what I want to do about the Science section of Mosaic Minds. One of our columnists and previous section editor isn't involved with the project any more, so now I need to figure out if I want to keep the idea of a weird science column (and if so, find someone to write it) or drop it entirely or replace it with someone else. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to them. And I also need to figure out what exactly I'm going to write about for this issue. I actually have a lot of things going on at the moment, for a change, including one super-secret project. It's actually not super-secret since I've mentioned it to at least two people in passing, but I don't want to write about it until it's done, otherwise I'll worry about how long it's taking me to finish it.

Seriously, folks, stop using IE. Now it's not even safe to click on links (more.) Might I recommend Opera instead? (Besides, it's customizable to death--even the menus. That's worth a whole lot right there.) And while I'm at it, remember that there's a big virus thing going around now, so be extra careful--this time around, the virus is masquerading as text files from people you know and such. I'll stop nagging now. I think maybe I need to have a few kids so I'll have someone to nag at any given moment. M doesn't like it when I do it to him for some reason.

Anyway, we're off to play cards.. the happening Friday night activity around here. :)

*lol* I was wondering what you were going to do about the science column. I kind of felt out my scientist friend but she can't commit to a column (which I expected--she's very busy). Good luck figuring it out. I really need to get on the ball with some more MM stuff. I don't think it ever ends. We have to start making money soon so we can feel like all this work is paying off *lol*

I wish I was more computer literate! I use IE because I'm too chicken to try anything else. No wonder I have to continually run spybot software!

About the science section, I think we could put your column and mine under living without too big of a problem, don't you??? And the health column could fit there too??

No matter what browser you use it will have faults because all software is written by flawed human beings. The reason so many vulnerabilities in IE get exposed is because most people use IE, so hackers spend their time looking for the flaws in IE. They accomplish more by exploiting IE than if they spent their time finding the flaws in Lynx or Mozilla 1.0 or Opera.

This is the same reason there are more viruses that attack Windows than attack Macs. If you write a good Windows virus you can affect a good majority of the world. If you write a good Mac virus you might affect the graphic design industry, but not too much else.

Nothing is bulletproof. If you switch to another browser you can move yourself out of the main target audience for these exploitations, but if everyone does that you will soon be back in the main target audience again. I'm sure Opera has vulnerabilities too. People just don't waste too much time looking for them.
