i am still a child at heart

Is it sad that I still know every single word to Dirty Dancing? And that I watched it again tonight, for what has to be more than the hundredth time? I used to come home from school and watch it every single day. My cousins and I used to have a lot of Barbie storylines set to the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. Our Barbies were dirty, skanky bitches and they did things that Mattel never intended Barbies to do. We're talking soap opera drama spanning years and years, with dedicated characters and relationships. If I were honest, I'd tell you that we met now and then way past the time we were totally over playing with dolls to continue the story. We wrote things down so we'd remember where we were at. I just kept thinking of Barbie and Ken going at it while I was watching my former love interest on-screen. I was so in love with Patrick Swayze, and pretty sure I'd marry him when I grew up. He's older than my dad, you know. Apparently I didn't think that was creepy, but I also had a thing for New Kids on the Block at the very same time so I guess there's no accounting for taste when one is nine years old, is there?

Nobody puts Baby in the corner, dudes.

[Yes, this is a filler post so I can go to bed feeling as though I did my daily posting duty. It's so embarrassing that I think maybe I should have just skipped the posting after all, though.]

I was at a gaybar in Stockholm when my brother came to visit and some guy walked up to me and said in English (of course) "Nobody puts Baby in a corner." He tried to tell me he was straight (as he hit on me) but that was the gayest thing anyone has ever said in my presence (aside from 50% of what comes out of my brother's mouth). :-)

I have fond memories of seeing that in the theater and places showed it again on the big screen when it had it's 20th anniversary this year (how old do I feel?!)

BTW, you can YouTube a couple to used the "Time of my Life" sequence for the movie as their first dance at their wedding- funny stuff.
