Wednesday night

(Couldn't post this last night because LiveJournal seemed to be down, so it's a tad bit late.)

We spent a considerable amount of time and money at the grocery store today. I suggested to my mother over the weekend that the power outage was sponsored by Kroger. She added that the local birthing center probably also contributed. ;) They were pretty busy for a Wednesday afternoon.. I guess that's what happens when people get power back and have to replace spoiled necessities. Our stuff was mostly okay, but we had to throw out some frozen convenience foods. (Fish sticks, fries, pizzas, that sort of thing.) I wonder if we lost those items as a commentary on our diet. The chicken breasts were fine. *ponder* And also, I'm sure everyone is ready for me to move past the power outage now. :)

Magnus was supposed to start work on Tuesday but instead, we've had the week to spend together. He was supposed to get an email on Sunday and call his boss on Monday to talk about the email, and then start the next day. Of course, we couldn't check mail on Sunday, and when he talked to the boss, things were really stressed at the office due to the storm so if he came in, no one would really have time to get started on training and such anyway. The power was still out at that point over parts of Lexington.. possibly it still is, I don't know. It's not on all over the place here. Okay, right, I had moved on from our electricity status. The point I'm attempting to make it to is that he will now start on Monday. He's pretty excited. He said in his tottejournal that the job was the best thing that happened to him since we got married, for one thing, and since he's still inordinately happily married, I think that's a pretty good sign that things are going smoothly.

Oh! I just figured out what's wrong with Emma. Emma as in, Ross and Rachel's baby on Friends. Ever since she was born last season, there's been a feeling of wrongness to her name that I couldn't quite put my finger on. It just hit me tonight what's wrong with the name. It's much too close to Emily, who is Ross's ex-wife. You don't name your kid that closely after an ex, even if you're not officially dating/married to the other parent. It's too creepy. Magnus also says that the Rachel character wouldn't name a kid something as old-fashioned as Emma, either. Perhaps he's right. In any case, it's just wrong. But it's still a cute name.. if not for that particular kid. And speaking of Emma, why haven't they shown Ben meeting his new sister? That's pretty weird.

And my new hair dryer is ionizing. I was sure that this would be just a marketing thing, but my hair today seems to be smoother and shinier, so I'm definitely thinking there might be something to it, although I'll give it a few days before I say for sure. I've sold my chick on the idea already, though. *grin* And also, I finally have my good mouse back! I have a tablet, and while I liked being able to use the pen to draw and stuff (see my kissy icon) I really don't like the mouse, and I hate keeping it on the tablet. I don't like using mouse pads at all. Anyway, Magnus got a new mouse, and so I can use mine again, and it works just fine to have them both connected at once. Yay me!

Apparently I'm feeling wordy tonight, but I'm going to restrain myself from writing any more and head off to bed soon. G'night!
