Back to work.
Dum de dum te dum. I'm pretty much done with working for a while, so I thought I'd try to get a journal entry done before lunch to make my
totte happy. I was going to work up some cabbage for display, but was unable to lug it from the cooler. Cabbage is purchased in 50 pounds, and I'm feeling particularly puny today. I guess I'm still weak from my strange sickness, plus my back is hurting for mysterious female reasons. Anyway, seemed as good of a reason as any to wait until after lunch to work on the cabbage.
It's been pretty nice this week. I worked two days (Thursday and Friday) and was off for two days. I worked one day and then was off two days. Now I'm going to work two days and be off three.. with any luck. Monday is Labor Day and I'm really quite hoping that we'll be closed. I guess we're not going to go anywhere fun and exciting on Saturday. Except maybe Lexington.. I have some shopping I'd like to do. I can't really remember what it was I wanted to buy right at the moment, but hopefully it'll come back to me. :)
I'm so pissed off at my tatting projects at the moment. I have my doily and a cross bookmark going at the moment. I was working on the cross night before last, trying to get the last bit finished.. and suddenly the thread breaks. I don't think I've ever actually had my thread just spontaneously break, although some of the other tatters complain about it, especially with old thread. Naturally, it broke at an extremely inconvenient place.. in the middle of an extremely long chain. The current round on my doily is a ring followed by a chain, but each ring joins to a different spot than the two before it. I have, naturally, messed this up four times already, and the rings are so small that they're impossible to open without breaking. So I've been getting mad at it and throwing it down quite a lot lately, which doesn't actually accomplish anything but it makes me feel slightly better, at least.
You know that song, Pictures? Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow, I believe? Near the beginning, there's a line that says, "I've been fueling up on cocaine and whiskey." Our local radio station actually beeps out "cocaine" like it's a four-letter word. I can't believe it. It's the most ridiculous thing I've heard from them, and they're a fairly ridiculous radio station. They're the only non-country music channel in the area. During football, basketball and baseball seasons (ie, all year except summer) they play live game coverage nearly half the time. High school and college both. It's crazy. Who in tarnation (to use a phrase that the locals like) wants to HEAR that crap? It's awful.
Just a half hour or so until I leave for lunch, so I might as well end this now while I might still be able to write more this afternoon. I'm expecting quite a boring day.

Also, the Lexington station... what's-it-called? Blanks out the cocaine bit as well. You should really listen to MTV Jams. All rap type crap. Every other or third word is blanked away. It's hilarious!

I thought i heard it on the lexington station unbleeped. Oh, well.. it's still silly.

Sorry about your project, it stinks to work so hard on and then have something go wrong. I do cross-stitch, so I can sort of relate!
Wow, I'm actually impressed that your radio station has a little forethought. Nothing like our stations out here....it's nothing but sex related crap from all the DJ's and their fodder. As a mother, it gets on my nerves!
Have a lovely day!

I see their point, the radio station. I just don't think censoring the word "cocaine" from an extremely popular song (that they'll hear on both country and rock radio stations as well as MTV, presumably uncensored) will do anything to keep kids off drugs. It's not like it's a word that the average kid will have never heard from movies or tv, and it's not even a word that shouldn't be spoken. It just makes me quite irate when they ruin a perfectly good song and will accomplish nothing more than calling attention to it. :)
*hugs* :)
