Saturday afternoon
Mar. 16th, 2002 05:17 pmI want today to be Monday! Cable modem!
We just got back from Whitley's birthday party. We had a pretty good time, everyone was in a relatively good mood. There were what seemed to be a million kids at all times, and everyone was talking at once, but still, it was nice. Devon has pneumonia. He was there today, but was all pale and weak looking. He looked pitiful.
Mom had this idea of playing bingo with the kids (she bought the bingo game for less than $2) and giving the bingo game to the kid who won the most. They got pretty bored with the idea after the first little bit, so it didn't work out quite that way. But then the adults played for money, which was fun. We played three games, and I won two, which made it even better! Total profit of $3.50. Perhaps I should become a professional gambler.. ;)
Last night we went on up and played Rook a while. I can't remember who won, but we had a nice time. I suspect that means we lost, doesn't it? Anyway. I made Magnus watch TV for a while so I could fall asleep on the couch. I have no clue what time he came to bed, but I figure it was pretty late.
The party was still more or less going on when we left, but we'd been there for five hours and it was getting to be a little much. We'll have to go up later to get the car, though, because we were blocked in and just walked back to the house. Oh, yeah. The rose thing went over very well. We ended up getting a red rose with baby's breath and green stuff at Kroger and putting it in our own vase, and I rang the doorbell like a delivery person. She seemed very pleased, and kept talking about how it was the first rose of her life. *giggle* Isn't that cute?
Magnus has found an active mandolin message board, and he's been receiving emails of all the posts. He gets at least 30 every time he checks mail, and he's spent most of his online time reading them. It's pretty funny. He's crazy about this mandolin stuff.. I've been thinking on finding someone to give him real lessons for his birthday. Maybe. I've mentioned this to him already, btw, so that's why I didn't mind posting it here where he could read it. I'm just not sure who I could get to do that, or how much it'd cost, or if I can think of something better. But really, I have four months to think about it. Ooh. That reminds me. It's only a month and a half until my birthday! I should remind Magnus that two years ago, he let me celebrate it at the beginning of April, as well as on my actual birthday. (He was here on a visit then, that's why we celebrated it early.) Perhaps I can do the same this year! How exciting!
We borrowed some movies.. I guess we could watch them tonight. I'm not sure I'm in the movie mood, though. Or the lasagna mood, for that matter, and it seems pretty likely that we'll be having leftovers for dinner. Hmm. Oh well. I'm sure we'll think of something.
