Tuesday afternoon
May. 14th, 2002 05:18 pmI just realized that I've been fairly productive, although it's seemed sort of slow today.
I took the insurance check to the bank. Oh! The chick at the bank made me happy. :) People (ahem, Magnus's family and friends, and perhaps a couple of mud people) can't seem to understand why we like living in Morehead. It's so smaaaaall, you know. So I bring forth for you a small example. I was at the drive-through of the bank. The teller (our bank has recently installed video camera/monitor setups and eliminated separate drive-through tellers, which is kind of neat), after she did the paperwork for the deposit, came on screen to tell me that she remembered a discussion we'd once had about my husband getting a credit card through them (he's the one who needs the credit history in the US, so I'd asked about that) so she was going to send out an application that he could just fill in. :) It would be surprising enough if she remembered had I walked in, but I was at the drive-through, for goodness sake.
(My favorite example, by the way, was on my wedding day. I went in to get my hair and makeup done, and the chick said "I've seen you out in town--you don't wear dark lipstick, so I'll use.. this one" and picked a lighter color than the previous one.)
Anyway.
I got the mandolin site done!!! We're waiting to hear from the guy now. Magnus mailed him on Friday saying we were doneish and would he please look at the design. Somewhat surprising that we haven't heard from him. I just had the guestbook left, and I was tearing my hair out about it. It refused to work, and while I'm not a heavy scripting type of chick normally, I'm not completely clueless and it WAS a pretty simple script, and it was giving me fits. I spent hours on it. Today, I finally fixed it! Yay! I temporarily uninstalled FrontPage extensions, uploaded the script and it worked perfectly. Had to reinstall it because he has a counter on the current page that was broken without it, and then the page decided to be on a white background instead of a grey one. Weird, but I had the old files saved, and fixed the problem. Hopefully noone was there during those few minutes to wonder what happened. :)
My dad has fixed the Cavalier back to driveable. It's still crumpled in the back, but the major problem was that the fender thing was pressed up against the tire so you couldn't really drive it for the rubbing. He took it to a friend's and had them do.. something, which pulled the back out so it doesn't scrape anymore. Of course, now, it's theoretically the same car it was before in terms of driveability, though ugly and crumpled. (I suppose it would need some work with fixing the rear light, but there is a bulb now, it just dangles a little. hehe) Anyway, I think Dad is going to help us sell it now. He had me come out earlier and get the stuff out and vacuum it.. Anyone want a crumply '91 Cavalier?
Also, I've started working on cleaning the bathroom, and that's what I'm off to do right now. More later!
