Wednesday night
Nov. 28th, 2002 01:34 amSo the banana bread is cooling and the broccoli casserole is in the fridge. I was finally productive and got my holiday cooking out of the way. We were stupid enough to wait until this afternoon to go grocery shopping, though, which was quite idiotic in retropspect. The cashiers were doing fine, but the people crowding the aisles got on my nerves. And also, they didn't all smell that great. Eww.
Today's been pretty uneventful, otherwise. I've decided to write for at least an hour a day. It's worked out for me two days in a row now, although I'm not necessarily fond of my plot anymore. Oh well, can't have everything. Tomorrow is the reject Thanksgiving at the parents. My dad gets aggravated when I call it that, which makes it even funnier. We usually do Thanksgiving with Mom's family on the Friday instead of Thursday, and on Thursday people go to the inlaws. (This works out well, cause then we can spend Christmas with them.) My dad's parents don't cook anymore, though, they go to my uncle's house. We aren't invited. Actually, I guess we might be, but wouldn't wanna go. So for the two years before last year, we ended up at Shoney's for dinner, which was pretty unspectacular. So last year, we decided to have dinner for those who don't have anywhere else to go.. namely, us, and my aunt and uncle, and a cousin and her two kids. I'm not too sure about them.. they actually have somewhere else to go and are making an appearance. I told her that only rejects were invited, but she for some reason didn't think I was serious. Hmm.
I got an email tonight from the daughter of my parents friends, if that makes sense. They used to spend time together when I was little, but then we moved away and all that. It was all kinds of neat.. she just stumbled on our page. Also, I sent two mails to people I used to talk to a lot. I sent one to Lisa, too, but she replied already. I'm feeling more social lately, I think.
Oh! Now I remember what I was going to write about last weekend! I forgot until I'd already posted two entries, and then I couldn't remember what I was supposed to write about. Anyway.
When we were doing all the computer fixing, I mentioned there was a graphics card issue, and I had a flickering ICQ icon that was driving me crazy. Since it was only ICQ, I thought I'd try installing a different version, namely ICQ Lite. (Really sucks, btw, don't bother with it.) I thought it was a little odd and kind of funny that there was a long list of people under the "Awaiting Authorization" section, since I'm not actually awaiting authorization from anyone, but ICQ does weird things with that sometimes.. sending two, or whatever. The list of people were mostly people who I used to have on my list but haven't talked to in a long time. (By long time, I'm talking literally five years.) A couple of them were listed several times with different numbers, and stuff, but I'd say there were at least 10 separate people.
Anyway, a little while later, I get an authorized request from this guy I talked to for a while asking who i was. I explained who I was and why I'd sent him a message.. then the whole program got screwy and he might have sent me another message, but I don't know. Then the next day, it happened again. Very embarrassing, because now I have to assume that I sent authorization requests to a bunch of people I haven't talked to in ages, and some of which I never particularly care to talk to again. A couple of them were even off my list for a specific reason, and I dislike the idea that they now think I want to talk to them. But the bright side is that most likely, other than those two, these people have stopped using icq, or changed numbers, or whatever. I'm hoping that's what happened anyway...
