Sunday afternoon
Jan. 19th, 2003 04:10 pmToday has been nice so far. We slept late, for one thing, that always helps set the mood for the day. We actually went to the Kentucky Folk Art Center today. We've been talking about it since he was here on the first visit in 99. It's right in town so it's not like it would really disrupt our lives to go, but we never got around to it. We noticed that it was free on Sundays, though, so we've been talking about it again lately and finally managed to go. In general.. eh, not so great. I don't think we'll be craving another visit anytime soon. There was a temporary exhibit upstairs with artwork related to September 11, and a couple of pieces there were really quite good. Some were not, but ummm.. maybe we're just not folksy enough. Or something.
We also went to WalMart, but we could not remember the secret item we were supposed to be buying. We got all the stuff we could think of this morning, but there was just one thing that we mentioned yesterday that neither of us could remember. Don't you hate it when that happens? And so in a few hours, I'm going to suddenly say, "Eureka! It was shampoo!" or something similar (obviously not shampoo because I tend to buy it compulsively and never do I actually run out) and then I'll be annoyed and we'll forget it again before the next time we go. Argh.
Yesterday was grandfather-in-hospital-again-visiting and shopping in Lexington and I bought a tatting book (with special needle) for $7 when it was really supposed to have been $14.99. Woohoo! I really wouldn't have bought it for $15, but I couldn't turn down $7, since I was planning on buying a similar needle for $4.50. :) I love things on sale.
