Random bits.
Jul. 8th, 2003 10:14 pmLast night I used the phrase "cingular piece of weirdness". After I posted it, Magnus turns around and says, "umm.. shouldn't that be singular with an s?" I blinked and double-checked and saw that I had indeed written "cingular". That made me giggle, so I didn't change it. Cingular is our cellphone company, for those of you who miss even the vaguest hint of humor. They're running ads now using their name in sentences, and apparently, it stuck in mine. Well, first of all, singular is not typically a word I would use anyway, so I guess that's where it came from.
Oh, that reminds me. I'm supposed to find a word of the day mailing list. I've decided (and M agrees) that we should subscribe to one and then endeavor to use that word in a sentence during that day. It's a rather pretentious thing to do, which suits Magnus perfectly. *grin* It pisses people off when the bloody foreigner knows words they don't, btw.
I got to have lunch with the girls today. Mom and Whitley were going to Wendy's, and Dad offered to let me go with them. After we left, Whitley was asking if we could go to the dollar store and Mom said that they'd have to take me back to work first. Finally we told her to call Grandpa and ask him. Soo.. yep, I got to do a little bit of rather boring shopping in the middle of my day, which was niceish. ;) She stays pretty busy in the summers, so we haven't seen her much lately, and I've missed her. She makes me laugh because she's so grown-up. My eight-year-old niece has three pairs of thong underwear. One of them is blue leather. *laugh* I can't decide whether to laugh or be appalled at how young the trashiness in clothing is beginning.
That's something that's bugged me lately. What's with the outfits that these little skanky hos are wearing?! I typically try to avoid calling people names of that type since I've always been pissy with how cruel women can be to each other, but in this case, I'm being complimentary. That's obviously the effect they're going for, so we might as well call it like it is. I don't know where they got the idea that showing as much skin as legally possible looks GOOD, but I certainly wish I could knock some sense into them. I'm all for a little bit of cleavage (if ya got it, flaunt it and all that, and I certainly have it) but I really do not wish to see your pelvic bones. I particularly do not wish to see your naughty bits. And for pete's sake, wear a bra with that see-through top. I don't even know any guys who think it looks good! (If you're one of those guys who gets hot and bothered by horridly-dressed women, for the love of all that's clothed, don't tell me. Let me think the best of you as long as possible.)
M and I have both been queasy on and off today. He felt badly enough that he came home from work at lunchtime or so, though I worked all day. We had Italian last night, and I think we're done with the place for a while. It really was excellent the first time we went, but it wasn't quite as good last night. We both had fettucini, and it doesn't really matter if it had anything at all to do with our illness, because most likely, it didn't.. M's boss's daughters both have it.. but the last thing you eat gets the blame from your stomach, inciting more queasiness when one thinks upon it. They're kinda expensive anyway, so no big deal. For now.
I have tomorrow off, and one of my goals for the day is to order some stuff from Amazon. I have a $30 rebate-type thing to spend. And also, I have a good coupon for a tatting store that I want to check out. Haven't been tatting lately, so I don't know if I can warrant spending much money, but when one has free shipping AND 10% off, one must order something, right? I also need to have lunch with my cousin Rae and go get my massage and chiro visit in the afternoon. And.. laundry, perhaps. I think that's productive enough for a day off, so I won't add any more goals. And I do believe I'll be going to bed early tonight. I've been ridiculously tired this week. There. Good to have a plan.
