Excellent! I've been working on a layout for several days and just finished it tonight. It has a black background, so I've been a little afraid of how it'll print, but it seems to be doing fine from what I can tell (yes, I've been stooping over the printer to see the page as it comes out.) I wish I was a little more prolific with these layouts, but I've been pretty happy with the last four or five that I've finished, so I'm not going to complain. (See it here.)
We went to a family reunion today and took disappointingly few pictures. Haven't transferred them yet, but I think there are only two or three. We usually take a billion, but today we were all just sitting and talking. To the same people we see every week. We're funny that way.. didn't even leave the table except for food-related reasons. We almost skipped going, but Dad called to make me feel guilty, so we went. :) The plan was to stop at the pool for a while on the way home, but by the time we left, we didn't really feel like it anymore. It's nice to have a little bit of time on the weekend to ourselves at home.. otherwise we won't be ready to go back to work on Monday. Like we will be anyway.
Crap! I spoke too soon about the printing. It looks okay, but it got a little stripey, and also is a bit too dark. Looks a little better under the plastic sleeve. When we have lots of money, I might have these pages professionally printed anyway. Until then, I'll live. Still cute.
Yesterday was surprisingly fun. Angie does love odd food products, so having her along (and without an obvious bias towards any particular set of products and therefore interested in everything) enhanced the trip. We bought $130 worth of groceries.. and we still have no food in the house to cook. ;) We'll have to go grocery shopping for boring essentials tomorrow, I guess.. just funny that it's necessary after such a big shopping trip. (To be fair, though, quite a lot of that was beer.) Magnus did a happy dance in the aisle for five minutes when he found fish paste. I had no idea he missed it so much, but I was afraid he was going to wet his pants there for a minute. *giggle* And we bought 16 bottles of Julmust, too. The silly boy still has four bottles from the last trip because he's been so conserving of them. That was the birthday present he ruined, btw. I hid a bottle from him so he would get one extra on his birthday, but he drank the ones he had so slowly that it was worthless. Hmph. I actually picked up a few things to play with myself. Vanilla suger, potato flour, tumeric (a whopping $.02 worth.. have a Thai soup recipe that requires it) some soba noodles and gnocchi, and a bottle of fish sauce. They keep talking about adding it on the cooking shows, and we haven't actually found any before now. Looking at the ingredient list makes me a little queasy, though. Extract of anchovies? Eww. I actually am not sure this soup will be worth eating.. I'm not sure why I'm so insistent on making it. We checked out the Australian section, looking for something to bug
courtesy with, but didn't find anything all that interesting, and the prices were even worse than other sections. We were wondering, though, if kangaroo and alligator jerky is a tourist food or actually something eaten by real people?
Speaking of queasy.. yes, we were speaking of queasy, way back at fish sauce. When the new Italian place opened, we ate there three times in about a week. The third time, we both had fettucini alfredo, because that's what I had the first time we were there and it was brilliant.. possibly the best fettucini ever. I happen to be a big fettucini fan.. it's my Thing. I eat it at lots of different places. Anyway, it wasn't as good as the first time, but still edible and pretty good. That night, though, M and I were both queasy, and stayed that way for a day and a half. He actually missed work because of it. I really don't think it was due to the food.. his boss's daughters had a stomach virus of some sort and so did a couple other people at work. It doesn't really matter what I think it was due to, though.. my stomach still thinks that fettucini is to blame and gets a little sick whenever I think of it at all. So yesterday, we ate at the Spaghetti Factory we liked so well last time we were there. I thought that I would be able to overcome the silliness of my stomach when I tasted the food. I guess you've figured out where I'm going with this. $9 for lunch and I couldn't make myself eat more than two bites. It tasted like greasy sawdust, and the more I chewed it, the more of it there was. *shudder* I was rather upset about it, actually, and I'm still a little freaked out that I can no longer stand the thought of my favorite food. Magnus thinks that it might help me in the long run to try different things, but I think he just doesn't understand the gravity of the situation. I'm going to have to find new things to order at several different restaraunts! Eeek! That's hard to do for those of us unable to adapt to change!
Ugh.. It's almost 11:30, which means that it's time for bed. Really, it should be past time for bed, but we stay up too late and then whine about getting up in the morning. I'm sleepy, my eyes are burning, and still I don't want to go to bed. Mondays suck. I just spent twenty more minutes procrastinating, so now it's closer to midnight and I really have to make myself go to bed now. Night night. *yawn*
