Aug. 30th, 2003 11:51 pmWe were able to get a few things done this morning before twelve, but it was a very close thing. We were in line at the bank when they closed, though they continued to wait on the customers already there. We had to mail the shuttles back to the company. I normally would have done that on my day off this week, but I wasn't feeling all that great so I didn't want to get out.
We talked about shopping and cooking a nice dinner and other things, but as it turned out, pretty much the only thing we accomplished was a nap. It was a super duper nap, for what it's worth. I can't believe I just said "super duper". I had ramen noodles for dinner, so we certainly didn't go all out there either. Errr.. we did watch Lord of the Rings again. First one, we'll watch the second again in a day or two. We finished The Tenth Kingdom again last night, which is a little disappointing.. I enjoy having it to look forward to. It's funny how often we watch movies lately. To tell the truth, the main reason I've been into movies and television is to have something to do while I tat. I hate just sitting around staring at the wall while I'm working on something. I don't think that's an unimportant reason I went on such a long hiatus from tatting this spring, actually. We ran out of things to watch. :)
It's looking like the store will be open on Monday, which really sucks. I don't want to be at work on M's day off! *whine* I guess I could volunteer to work Wednesday this week instead of Monday, but I hate to.. I would rather work two days at a stretch than four.
We've also settled on what to do about Poppy Mountain this year. It's the largest bluegrass festival in the world and it's held the third week of September in Morehead. M and I just had a discussion about how many people were actually there. We think that the official number last year was 20,000 people.. but in actuality, estimates were at around 50,000. It's really quite the experience even if you're not into bluegrass. The population of Morehead is somewhere around 10,000, just for a bit of perspective. Anyway, M has gotten very much into mandolins--and by extension into bluegrass--since he moved here, so he's really excited about it all. I could take it or leave it.. I've been almost every year since the thing started and I'm not really a big fan in the first place. If you buy your ticket before September, you get a $15 discount for the week. That's why we had to decide what we were going to do. It seems we're just going on Saturday, which is the big day. It's $35 each for Saturday, but the weeklong ticket would have been $65. It's really not that expensive if you consider what you're getting (free entertainment for 12+ hours a day from Tuesday until Saturday.) However, we're both going to be working during the day and probably not really in the mood for it at night, so why bother with it if we're not going to enjoy it? I let M decide, though, since he's the one who'll be enjoying it the most.
Now I'm bored and tired but not terribly sleepy due to the nap this afternoon. I nagged M to write in his journal, but I hear the intro to a new game going, so I guess that's not going to happen. *pout* In any case, it's time to go try to sleep anyway. I'm sure I won't have too much trouble with it.. M thinks I'm the sleepiest person in the world. :)
