My parents think we're a little crazy because we occasionally drive two and a half hours to go grocery shopping. We invited them along for the ride yesterday when we suddenly decided to go to Jungle Jim's yesterday at around noon. They nervously declined, but we had a good time anyway. I think it's the third time we've been, and we've cleaned them out of Julmust all three times. Twice, M even asked the poor clerks if they had any more. They were out of mustard, though, so my poor M is going to have to make do with fake-o horseradish mustard for a little while longer. I am personally not a fan of mustard in any incarnation, so I don't really see the fascination, but I do try to make the boy happy when I can, so I seem to be constantly thinking about things like that.

I started looking at ticket prices to go to Sweden a couple of weeks ago. M's parents have been planning on either coming to visit for M's 30th birthday in July or buying the tickets for us to come there. I found ridiculously cheap estimates for the next couple of months.. I think it was $400 each or so. In early summer, though, the tickets go up to $1200 or something. I'm sure there were some cheaper, but I was just trying to get an estimate. So we were thinking that hey, we have time off right now whereas we might not in July and we could save his parents a lot of money if we were to book our trip for say, March. He mentioned it to them then and gave them time to think about it, and......... actually, no, we're not about to leave on vacation. They would rather pay more for us to come when the weather is nice. It's very sweet of them, but rather unexpected.

Or.. maybe not. Now that I think of it, they were probably thinking of this: Picnic. )

I had a better picture in mind but I couldn't find it. M and I were huddled under blankets and a large umbrella, warming our hands over the dying embers of a portable grill. It's a little unfair, though, because in this picture the weather looks rather warm. It was decidedly not. It had been nice all week, but on this particular day, it was freaking freezing, and something about this little valley we were in attracted icy winds, or something. They thought it was vastly amusing, as can be seen clearly in the picture. I was very relunctant to wear the hat, btw. I borrowed it from Kina (M's sister, openly laughing at me in the picture.) It looked silly but made me at least a little happier.

M has been nagging me to cut his hair, and I guess I should go do it before M*A*S*H comes on in half an hour. Completely don't feel like it but I guess I will, or he'll pout and then I'll feel guilty. :) I can't let him go back to the barber shop like the other men do, of course--I swear that woman was fondling his head! ;)
