Web things.
Feb. 24th, 2004 12:36 amI thought I should write this right now while I'm still feeling the love. I'm so happy with the way the site is coming for the second issue of Mosaic Minds. It looks better, behaves better, has more of the functionality I had in mind, and will be easier to work on. Last month was a mess, but I'm really loving it now, whereas I really was NOT loving it last time. We have a fabulous new header by the talented Penelope and a fabulous new logo by the talented Marie and fabulous new code by.. well, just me. I tried to keep it out of my journal for obvious reasons, but I had bouts of panic, angst, boredom and horror while working on the site last month. M normally can use his logic skills and tell me what to do to fix a problem in a conceptual sort of way, then I can find a solution. I lost him on this one, though, because the structure is rather beyond anything either of us have tried to organize before, and I had very strict ideas on what needed to happen, but less of an idea of how to implement it. He kept telling me that I would work it out, though, and I did! I'm extremely happy with it right now. Actually, I'm at a really good stage of happiness--I'm so happy with it that I don't really care if anyone else is. *laugh* When I'm not satisfied, I need reassurance that it's good enough. When I am, I care much less. Anyway, it's tableless! And it validates as xhtml (transitional, and only because of the stupid amazon affiliate links)! And it degrades gracefully! And it's not a pain in the arse! Yay!
Also, I finished M's resume site last night. We fed my domain acquisition syndrome a little last week and bought geijer.us (no site there yet). If you'd like to see it, bearing in mind that it's nothing all that special, just an accent to his resume.. it's here.
He had the interview today.. it went pretty well, he thinks, but he talked to the owner instead of the manager so will need to go back another day. I still couldn't tell you much more about it than I could before. Something about inventory. The location is better than any of his previous jobs, though, so that would be nice--if not optimal. I wish he could stay in Morehead, but that has somehow seemed an impossible task.
After the interview we went to lunch and then bowling. We had a really good time.. played three games and then two games of air hockey. You know, I'd love to say that I want only what is good and lovely for M and I'll take the sucky stuff for myself, but darnit, I'd like to win at stuff like that occasionally! I can often beat him at cards and board games and stuff, at least. well, but not Trivial Pursuit. Let's not talk about that, though. Hmph. You know, bowling is hard work. I'm already sore, so I bet I'll be creaking around like an old woman tomorrow. I guess it was worth it, though. Except for the losing part.. not much good about that. :)
