Restless

I've been restless and bored all day long. Just after lunch, I prepared one business-type letter, marked it off the to-do list and announced that I was pretty much done being productive for the day. Some days I guess it's just easier to stay in bed. Nothing is wrong, really, just I'm a hopelessly spoiled brat who wishes everything would go her way all the time. :) Which I guess would be a more fair description if I even knew what went wrong today.

Speaking of which, I was up at the house last week to get a game for us to play. My mom was telling me this long story involving.. well, an incident in which someone behaved kind of badly but blamed it on this generation being selfish. The story isn't worth getting into--I don't mind telling family stories if they're worth it, but this one isn't even humorous or entertaining, so I'll skip it. She went into a little sidenote story about how she had said that she didn't agree with that analysis. My cousin Angie, for instance, goes out of her way to take care of people. Then she hesitated and then added, "and.. well, you're not that way now, really, but you used to be! I used to group you right in with *(selfish people)* because you never would do anything if it wasn't just what you wanted to do!" It was just one of those moments when you're sitting around, minding your own business--as much as gossiping can be minding your own business--and then you suddenly find yourself in the middle of a completely unplanned and unwarranted lecture. My dad and I looked at each other and started laughing in that somewhat shocked way. It was rather funny. I guess maybe you would have to have been there.

Anyway. So what did I choose to do with my restless and bored day? Reinstall my operating system, of course. Limited intelligence with that one, I guess, but I think (*knocking on wood*) that it's going okayish for the moment. I had all the installation and updates and drivers done earlier and then ended up having to do it again for some unknown reason, so with any luck I'm reasonably back to normal.

I ordered birthday books last night, and I just might get to pick out a few more things tomorrow during our next Lexington trip. I'm kind of tired of the trip, actually, after last week, but we have to pick up our exercise bike. Still can't believe we bought the thing. My mom says that exercise equipment is something that everyone has to buy and neglect sooner or later. I don't mean to suggest that I'm not seriously planning on using said bike (it's not the kind with the triangular seat, btw, but the kind with a little chair.) I just can't believe that I'm someone who just spent actual money on a piece of equipment designed solely for exercise. It's so.. not me.

I really really love the smell of freshly-washed laundry.
