M and I just got back from a midnight grocery trip. Would I be a dork if I admitted that it was a lot of fun? I was feeling depressed and restless, so when I suggested going grocery shopping (which we didn't really need to do), M jumped on it and we left before I changed my mind. He's better at taking care of my emotional state than I deserve.. lucky me. :)

I was depressed and restless for two reasons. (Three, if you count my general moodiness of the last week or so.) First.. my grandmother was at the emergency room tonight. She was completely overmedicated.. unable to concentrate or talk or walk well, and so they took her out there and they were running tests and stuff to make sure that's what it was. I was quite indecisive as to whether or not I should go out there and wait with them. I finally decided not to since there wasn't anything I could do but sit in the waiting room, and both her and my grandfather have always been anti-waiting-at-hospitals. They go visit, but they won't stay long. So I figured I would take my cue from that and stay home and wait for my parents to call and let me know what was going on.

As for the other thing? I finished my first Hardanger project--but unfortunately, not because I got it done. I picked out a beginner's kit at the Stitch Niche (for my birthday, but M let me keep it early) on Friday. Really cute little sachet. Here it is. Anyway, I designated today as a crafty day for me--I spent the whole afternoon working with string (and I just might do it again tomorrow.) I finished all the white stitches and then it was time for the scary part--the idea here is that you cut the fabric and pull out the threads. I guess you know where this is headed, right? I completely ruined the thing.. cut too much. ;( I did learn that Hardanger is not for me, though. And not just because I broke it--I told M within the first twenty stitches that it wasn't something that I would want to do long-term. Still, it's disappointing--I wanted to get at least one little project done. Maybe someday I'll learn patience and try it again--as M pointed out, I have plenty of hobbies right now anyway.

I did sew in a gazillion ends in a few tatting projects, though, and starched and ironed two. I need to scan them. One of them is a bookmark that I made for M. He requested it in the fall, and I did most of it at Poppy Mountain in September. Seven months later, I finally get around to fiinishing it. *blush* I feel kind of bad about that. I lost it--and also, I hate sewing in ends. I'm on a Finish Unfinished Projects kick at the moment, though--hope it lasts--at least until I finish an unfinished project. :)
