Mosaic Minds goes live again!
Jun. 30th, 2004 10:06 pmMosaic Minds: What If?
I've spent the last few days working on Mosaic Minds in my free time, but I'm happy to say that it's completely done now and maybe my life can be my own again for a little while. Tomorrow, I've got to go do some birthday shopping for the husbandly one. He says that there's no need to make a big deal out of his birthday (which is Friday) but I really hate to do nothing. I just haven't been anywhere lately. We've been talking all evening about what we want to do this weekend to celebrate, but we haven't come up with anything. I suspect that I'll either be cooking steak with a red wine and portobella mushroom sauce or we'll be going out for a nice dinner. We don't really want to go anywhere because it's a holiday weekend, and my parents have company so I don't know exactly what we'll end up doing. He wants an ice cream cake. That's all I know of so far. I usually do pretty well with picking out presents for him (at least, I think so) but this time just didn't happen for me. I guess he'll be alright.
A girl at work mentioned the Biltmore Estate today. For those of you who don't know, it's "America's largest home"--or so they claim repeatedly on HGTV and their website. It's huge. I have no idea if someone actually lives there--thus validating their claims that it's a home, for otherwise it's just a very large building--but apparently you can go take tours, and also stay there overnight. The thing is, it costs $40 to have a self-guided tour. I don't know about you, but I pay less than that when I go to Six Flags, and then I have a little more fun than a reasonable person would expect to have touring someone's house. Their website eagerly advertises their special online-only deal on rooms at the inn--only $180. As M so bluntly puts it--"For $180 you can stay at a nice hotel! And get a hooker!"
It's good to know what his priorities are, in any case.
G finished her first tatted motif today and I'm probably as excited as she is about it. I've never really gotten anyone interested before. Most of the women in my family have given it a try at some point, with varying degrees of success. One cousin went so far as to borrow and keep a shuttle and tat a few rings, but that was as far as it went. So, G is by far my most advanced student! Exciting!
And, I got paid. Days in which I get paid are, by nature, better than days in which I don't get paid. Funny how that works.
