I. Am. So. Tired.

This weekend's festivities turned out to be a little more.. lengthy than planned. My parents and niece were camping out at Carter Caves, so we headed down to spend the day with them. My parents bought this camper and put a bit of repair work into it, and this was its debut journey. It would have been nice if they had headed west while looking for a place to park their camper, but no, they headed farther east, thus adding half an hour to our driving time (two hours from here to there) and putting us well out of the way of any of the other things we would have done otherwise. Still, it was a nice place, and much fun was had by all.

We got a later start to the day than planned, due to an hour's worth of lazy and two hours worth of gabbing on the phone with Jenny. When we finally arrived, we headed to the horseback riding stables, but changed our minds about doing that for as many reasons as there were people in our party. The smell was horrible, we were all wearing shorts, they were really busy and we would have to wait, my dad wasn't planning on riding--but my main concern was the flies. They were swarming around like crazy, and I remembered a certain other day when B was here. We headed down to the lake for a picnic and were literally attacked by loco flies. I wasn't looking to relive that, and luckily Whitley was amenable to skipping the horsies. We went to play mini golf instead, and then M and I took Whitley swimming at the pool. This was followed by (the most miserable showering experience of my entire life at the bathhouse) delicious steaks on the grill, and a rousing game of mini-golf that lasted two hours, and which I won mightily. I reallly had my groove on with that last night. All in all, a very long day with lots of fun in it.

When we finally got back from the mini-golf, it was after ten and we started to head home, much to the consternation of my parents, who insisted that we could stay overnight. We left anyway, but then decided that we should really stay overnight and go see my great-aunt today. We usually only spend one day up there per weekend, but I was afraid that it couldn't wait until next weekend. So we stopped at my parents house and spent the night there--which we were teased about later on because we finally spent the night with them when they were gone--and did much socializing today, with all of my grandparents and with the aunt (Edna) and her family, and about that, I should just say that I'm very glad we went today instead of waiting. We also stopped in and ate dinner with my parents before we headed home, so we should definitely be on the Good List with them for a while. It was a little embarassing because we had been at my Mamaw and Papaw's house for about forty minutes when we realized that it was his birthday. Completely had forgotten. Ooops.

So, we finally got home at 7:30 or so and we're feeling a little worn. We're such creatures of habit that one spontaneous night away from home feels a little like we're one of the shipmates on Gilligan's Island (a three hour cruise, three hour cruise). And neither of us sleep very well when we're not in our own bed. But we're extra glad to be home tonight, anyway, and still yet glad that we stayed. I would have been more glad if I could have found Mom's extra hairdryer this morning.. I've looked pretty seriously ragged all day today.

Luckily, though, tomorrow is my flex day, and that makes me very happy. My sweetie boy has an interview, and I've been planning all weekend on going with him. It occured to me tonight that I really don't have to, so I think that I'll sleep in instead, and spend the entire day doing as little as possible. That sounds so lovely. And even better, I think I'll go to bed now and start that "little as possible" thing as soon as possible. Very nice. So goodnight, and all that jazz.
