I really like my job on days like today. I mean, not that I normally dislike it, or anything like that, but I was busy all day long, and never felt just totally like I had no idea what was going on. I think that's probably a good sign, since I seem to like it when I'm actually working. :)

I bought a Weight Watchers cookbook--two, actually--and they arrived this weekend, so we've been eating brand-new dishes this week. We're not following WW or anything, but we kind of figure that finding light recipes is a good thing. I've learned to cook quite well, but I have the same weakness as the FoodTV chefs that I got my training from. I can make anything taste good if you give me free range on the calories. ;) So.. trying to get on the right track that way. And maybe someday I'll even use the exercise bike for something more than a clothes hamper again. It could happen. Yesterday's Potato and Asparagus Frittata was better than tonight's Pasta and Red Pepper Sauce with grilled zucchini. We'll see how tomorrow's Carmelized Onion and Mushroom Spaghetti Pie goes.

M was supposed to start work today, but apparently it got postponed until tomorrow. He's getting sick, though, which is remarkably bad timing. I'm hoping that he'll be feeling sprightly again by tomorrow morning, but he might be contrary about it and stay sick. Boys can be like that. :)

In any case, it's time to settle in with my book--New Spring, which I bought for my birthday and then completely forgot about having, what with the move and all. It has another, less-used title, but maybe you've heard it? "How to Procrastinate In Finishing a Fantasy Series That Has Already Gone On For Way Too Long Even If It Is Really Good: The Prequel to The Wheel of Time". I sometimes wonder how the man ends up with such cryptic titles when he's so vastly wordy in every other way. One of life's mysteries, I suppose. Actually, it's good so far. I read the short-story version a while back and enjoyed it quite a lot, so I have high hopes for this one. Lan and Moiraine act like semi-real people. It's fun to meet her as an Accepted--she bites her lip instead of crossing her arms under her breasts or tugging at her braid. I just wish he'd get on with the next one. I've been waiting on that man to finish writing for almost seven years, and I'm a relatively new fan. Next time, I need to pick something that's already finished.
