Sleepy girls.
Aug. 16th, 2004 10:16 pmHow long can one day last and still technically be the same darned day? Because that whole "24 hours" thing is clearly just a nasty rumor, I'm becoming convinced. I know that I, for instance, have been having this same darned day for at least a week now. Yet somehow, it's still Monday! It got off to a reasonably bad start at an unreasonable hour. By the time I made it to work (on time, which I was in fact very pleased about) I was already ready to come home. I actually had to dump all the pens and markers out of the mug they gave me on my first day of work so I could go get coffee. It tasted like hot, sour urine, but it was warm and caffeinated and I was clearly not, so it made my morning a little bit brighter. The rest of the day was not too bad, actually, except for the soul-devouring boredom in the afternoon, since I'm out of stuff to do at the moment. It's just that I've been awake for so many hours on so few hours of sleep. It feels like a bad omen of the week to come when I feel this tired on a Monday.
I went to visit M after I got off work, and did a bit of grocery shopping while I was there. How many times do you really need to hear that you shouldn't go grocery shopping when you're hungry before it actually sticks? But we certainly have blueberry muffins now! I have not previously in my entire life purchased blueberry muffins, but somehow they wound up in my buggy. Oh, and chips and dip and crackers. And potatoes. Tiny little delicious new potatoes, which were boiled and then sauteed with onion and garlic and rosemary and butter and made a quite delicious dinner, with fresh parsley sprinkled on top just for visual effect. I more than made up for all that junk food, though, cause I bought baby spinach. You know. Fresh.
Did I really just go into excrutiating detail about groceries? Man, that's sad.
Anyway, I suddenly can't think of a whole lot else in the world that sounds better than bed right about now. Unless--possibly--it would be a blueberry muffin.. in bed.
