Aug. 23rd, 2004 02:41 pmCrap! I have a day off, and was actually looking forward to the luxury of watching Days of Our Lives, but now I remember (yes, after turning on the TV and staring at it expectantly) that the Olympics has preempted it. Shucks.
Our overly conscientious-about-weeds landlords have sprayed the edge of the lawn behind the house with some sort of truly scary chemical which has turned the perimeter of the grass into a dull, dead clump of tall weeds. Personally, we preferred the tall, green clump of weeds better--clearly, they weren't trying to make anything prettier, so I'm not sure why they did that. However, the part that we're really not fond of is that our groundhogs have gone missing. Haven't seen Rex or Marsha in at least a week--actually, we haven't seen our three deer, either. I'm hoping that they moved on because they no longer want to eat what's here.. far preferable to the alternative that they were already a casualty of the weedkiller. It's at times like this that I remember again why we need to find a cute little house on the edge of the forest.
Speaking of our current living situation, how about a brief update on life since the move? We no longer find the stairs to be exciting or fun.. much more of a nuisance than something to be pleased about. They're far easier to climb now, but they're also very boring. The only thing they actually accomplish is breaking up our living space and causing us to spend less time in our living room than we normally would. I still don't have the light switches completely worked out, but it's progressing slowly. We have all of our stuff put away, but I still can't find the purse I've been looking for, or a simply vital piece of computer equipment (you know, the hot pink Barbie game controller that M bought me.) Not a single person in my family besides my parents and niece have been to visit us, because clearly, driving an hour and a half would just completely ruin their entire lives. Oh, and I still don't have a key to the mailbox (and haven't yet been to the dumpsters once.)
Speaking of visitors, my parents came down on Saturday, which meant that I didn't spend nearly so much time working on Mosaic Minds as I did on say, cleaning the toilet. The house wasn't all that dirty, but I wasn't all that speedy, either. We took Whitley to WalMart to get her picture professionally taken by this excellent (and HOT!) photographer that works there.. I can pick up the pictures in three weeks. I think they'll be quite good, so that will be fun.
Anyway, I think M (who happily also has today off) wants to go play a game, so I should wrap this up and go do that. Not that he knows yet that he wants to play a game, but that's why he has a wife who knows stuff like that. :)
