I have a bit of posting angst.. I'm finding it hard to follow up on the last post (The One With All The Letters). I enjoyed writing that, probably because I'm a notorious letter-writer. It has passed in my older days somewhat, but I have been known to write things, send them to people and regret it bitterly for the rest of my life. Not that I'm necessarily talking about the letter I sent to my dad when I was seven, but I am. That one--the one where I told him he had "runt" my life--has plagued me endlessly. My mom accuses me of pilfering through her cedar chest to throw that one away. I'm not saying a word on the subject.

I suppose I eventually got over how horribly he had runt my life, because we ended up spending the night with them last night. We didn't plan on that, but we realized that it would save ourselves a bunch of driving, and plus, they like it. There's a big flea market type thing (Court Days, for those in the know) in Mt. Sterling, which is 30 miles from Morehead and about 60 from Frankfort, this weekend. We figured it would be easier to just stop in on our way home today than driving home last night just to head back in that direction today. It was such the worthwhile trip, as well. We spent $6 for two umbrellas before we got there, $5 to park and $9 for an early, slightly disgusting McDonald's lunch to avoid buying over-priced concessionary food. (Yes, I feel vaguely guilty about that, considering that I used to be the one standing behind the deep fryer.) What did we end up buying? A $1 hair accessory* for my niece and $3.70 for a few random kitchenary items. But I finally have some of those clear plastic bottles to put fancy sauces on dessert plates with! (You know the kind.. cheap fast food restaraunts put ketchup in them.) Please don't remind me that a) I never make desserts or b) I never make desserts with fancy sauces. I wanna be FoodTV, alright?

So anyway, we only ended up staying about an hour at Court Days this time, due to the miserably persistent rain and the fact that my back has been killing me all weekend long and there weren't enough potties to satisfy the Swede in our group. We were home by two, which was rather a relief, and there was a nice long nap to reward ourselves for.. well, heck, I don't know what we were rewarding ourselves for. We just wanted a nap, alright? At the moment, I'm eagerly anticipating dinner because it has garlic chicken and parmesan potatoes in it and the house is smelling incredible. I have about five more hours of happy weekend time before bed, and I'm trying very hard to take advantage of it. I fully expect this to be a rather crappy week so I figure a night off to get it all started would be delightful.

*I didn't really know the best word for describing five pieces of plastic braided hair with flashing lights in them, but I figured "accessory" would cover just about anything. You can turn them off or on! Long-lasting batteries! Her teachers will want to kill me, I'm sure.
