With all the discussion of that really irritating event that I'm not planning on writing about tonight, I haven't gotten a chance to say a proper thanks to ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
lizardek for the icon she made for me. She said she wanted to show someone who sees beauty in the simple things, who takes time to stop and smell the flowers (which I thought was a nice thing for her to say, too!) I was thinking about that earlier today, though, when I realized that I had been staring in fascination at the shiny surface of my fake-wood-laminate desk for a full minute.. I guess she pegged me pretty well there. ;)
Speaking of the little things that make me happy, I don't believe I've mentioned lately how sweet my husband is. When I left work this afternoon, there was a lovey little note on my dashboard. I won't post the whole thing, but I'll just say that the word "endlessly" was used. I almost feel sorry for all those other people out there who aren't married to my M.
I have a kind of cute little story that kind of borders on the really irritating event I mentioned not writing about, but I think as a compromise, I'll just tell the story without adding any aggravated commentary. The subject of elections came up on Monday, when my nine-year-old niece was visiting with my parents. She said, "You're going to vote for Kerry? Yuck!" My mom said that she was, and asked why it was a yuck. Whitley says, "He's UGLY!!" *laugh* Ahh, the wisdom of a child... She ackknowledged that Bush is also ugly, but she didn't think he was quite as bad. *giggle* I tend to disagree, but I have to agree with her that neither would win any beauty pageants.
I blinked and now I'm having a really hard time opening my eyes again. I think it's probably time to go to bed. I haven't been sleeping all that well in the mornings lately, and I've been getting up earlier than normal, too. I actually have time for a leisurely breakfast! Very weird, and very unlke me. Maybe tonight will be a little easier since M has tomorrow off and won't get getting out of bed at ridiculous times. Course, I sitll have to get up at a ridiculous time but you can't have everything.
