Saturday night.
Nov. 28th, 2004 12:15 amI feel like a little kid. We were over at J's house, having dinner and playing cards, and then there was too much junk food and three Mt. Dews, and now I feel ill. I also feel sleepy, but M is having too much fun playing with his new monitor* to coerce him into going to bed yet. Of course, he also had multiple caffeine drinks, and he's more sensitive to caffeine at bedtime than I am. He argued this point fiercely for a long time, but it's hard even for him to keep arguing something when all facts point in the opposite direction.
*We ordered a monitor online last week, but it hadn't shipped yet (we did know it was out of stock when we ordered it, so that wasn't really a problem in itself) and last night, we found a better one for cheaper online, so we went to Lexington today to pick it up. Of course, it's only ($50) cheaper after a $170 rebate, so technically, I cancelled an order so we could go spend over $100 more. Yay. It's a Samsung 17" flat-panel, if anyone is interested, and M hasn't stopped smiling yet, so I think it was a good investment. ;).
Anyway. J and I majorly pounded M and A on the Rook games. We actually won three out of four, and by a huge margin (I'd say on average of 400 points per game.) It was great fun because previously, we've always lost. It's funny, because our gloating husbands did not find quite so much to laugh about tonight... hmm... There were several very creative new expressions coined relating to "flood season" and "new complexion", but I don't think they'd be funny in the retelling. I'm not even sure why it was so funny tonight but I had tears at one point from laughing so hard.
We went to an auction not long after we got married, and when a certain item came up for bid, I actually roused myself out of my stupor of boredom and surprised the heck out of everyone by bidding on it. It's a retractable magnet--it looks like a pen, but with a relatively large head instead of a point. You can pull that out for about two feet, and the magnet sticks like glue to anything metal. I think I bid like, $2 on it, and I don't know if I've honestly used it once, but it's just so neat. I have it in my pen cup and pull it out now and then just to have something to play with. I probably won't think it's so neat when I accidentally wipe out my harddrive, but uh.. it's pretty cool until then.
