I need a vacation to rest up from my weekend. :) We just got home from Louisville a little while ago. I don't think I mentioned it, but M applied for citizenship a while back, and we got a letter "requesting" his presence for fingerprinting purposes this morning at 10. It's funny because it just so happens that last time we had to go in for something, it was my first flex day, and they scheduled this appointment for a flex day, too, so it was no problem going with him. Well, except for the whole getting up and going to Louisville thing. I know a lot of people who think it's a lovely city, but I'm afraid M and I don't fall into that category. Perhaps it's because we're always going to visit the immigrations office, but I think that place thwarts us. It always rains, first of all.. miserable, wet, cold. Today, we took a wrong turn out of the parking garage and ended up walking around for an hour trying to find the darned building. In the rain. I hate being wet and cold, and of course, I wasn't wearing sufficient jacketry because I wasn't really planning on being outside much. Also, there's this thing about my hair--rain makes my head look like I stuck my finger in a light socket and then dumped a cup of water over my head. And I got a blister on my heel. Anyway, we finally got to the place and got the fingerprints done, which is bound to be good for something since we paid $70 for the privilege when we submitted the application.
After that, we stopped at a mall in order for me to do something I've been talking about for months.. hair cut and color. (Ever walk into a hair salon with a head that looks like you stuck your finger in a light socket and then dumped a cup of water on it? Not the coolest look, I gotta say.) I got the required lecture on not coloring my hair at home, but I didn't mind because it looks pretty nice now, if I do say so myself. I'm particularly relieved because when she rinsed the dye out and handed me a mirror, I couldn't help but notice the greenish-tinged blonde roots I was sporting. (EEEK!) She did some toner magic, though, and that all went away. Thank goodness. So I paid a fortune but I'm happy, and then we got to go buy books and that was fun. Although I felt bad about making M wait around while I was getting that done.
I spent most of Saturday working on Mosaic Minds, and that's completely ready now except for the part I have to do tonight when it all starts getting published. Yay! We were going to go to a Scandinavian Heritage pea soup dinner in the evening, but as it turned out, M had to work until eight. He got there at eight, too, because of a mixup with schedules, so... that pretty much sucked. But at least I didn't drive him to work and try to spend the day in Lexington while he was at work, which was the original plan. And of course, yesterday was all about the family visit, which was nice but unremarkable.
I am really mad at my husband right now because he came upstairs after eating dinner and breathed in my direction. Now the smell of his smoked fish and red onion in oil and vinegar burrito is HANGING AROUND MY HEAD. From across the room. He deserves a beating for that, let me tell you. It's awful. Truly, truly awful. I'm thinking about making him wear one of his woodworking masks. Yuck.
