Today, it is a day with food that M says makes it alright that he had to do the dishes five times this weekend. Today, there was homemade macaroni and cheese for lunch which the boy declared the best mac n cheese he's ever tasted, and then there was chicken gillespie for dinner and also, boredom-induced waiting-for-the-chicken-to-defrost parmesan and bread crumb cakes fried in butter. And now? Now there will be brownies as soon as I get off my rump to go make them. And yesterday! Yesterday there was homemade pizza! And tomorrow there will be baked spaghetti because we went back to the grocery yesterday and we managed to make it home with everything we bought for once.
By the way, I really didn't finish that story the other night but I didn't realize it until I was in bed already. After the failed spaghetti that wasn't in the trunk or still in a bag somewhere, I finally decided to just have noodles. So I go back upstairs and come down a while later to fix them when I realize that we don't actually have any. Okay, will have grilled cheese.. no, not in the mood for that. But cinammon toast! It's a horrible, horrible dinner but it's been a long day and I deserve it and--oh. Green bread. I ended up having cereal. It was very, very sad.
We have not really done a whole lot this weekend but it's been nice. I finished round one of the curtain tiebacks.. we bought some beaded things at WalMart. I think it needs a little something else, but it's cute anyway. These curtains would be totally perfect for a puppet show. Too bad we don't have any puppets. I think maybe we should buy some for the kids at my grandfather's house on Sundays. They keep wanting to put on shows for us, but tragically, these shows are.. well. Bad. It was a little better when they were in rock-star mode, and they would sing. That was cute. Recently, they put on Shrek and Tony Hawk. One might ask how they could put on a Tony Hawk show, and to tell the truth, we're all still wondering because despite all their insistances that they were ready and didn't need to practice anymore, and even after asking us to come to their show for the previous three hours, the Tony Hawk show pretty much just consisted of them standing around deciding what to do. Shrek was much worse, for it was long, and slow, and none of them knew what exactly they were supposed to be doing but they were determined, with Alex's prompting, to do every single scene, in mime. I hope they never run off to pursue a career in acting for I am certain they will be severely disappointed.
Oh my goodness, I have to go make brownies now because Unwrapped: French Fries is coming on (have I mentioned how much I adore FoodTV?) and I am jonesing for some potato love now. How many people actually make chocolate to curb their real cravings, I wonder?
