Apr. 12th, 2005 09:43 pmYou remember how I said yesterday that there was nothing going on, nothing worth mentioning? Nothing unusual? Apparently, I am unable to deal with this level of boredom in my personal life, because today, I had to go and have myself a mini-crisis.
Sometime before nine this morning, I realized that my legs, arms and chest were covered in little pink-red dots, and more little red dots were appearing by the minute. So, I commenced to freaking out, because HELLO! LITTLE PINK DOTS APPEARING! I called the doctor (I can't believe I don't have that number memorized by this point) and they gave me a 10:00 appointment. This was a largely uninformative appointment, because her official stance just turned out to be that I must be allergic to something. (I think this is the lady who previously told me that I had "flu-like symptoms", actually.) She gave me a shot of (I think--she mentioned this, at least) prednisone, about which I really wish I had asked more questions--like, why are you giving me this, and what can I hope for it to accomplish, and how long should those effects take, and what exactly is it and how much are you giving me? But since I was in freaked-out mode, I really didn't think to ask her any of that stuff, or any number of other questions that I thought of after I left. She just said that it did not look to her as if it was an allergy to any of the medication I've been on. I told her that I had been sick many many times recently, and still had a cold. (Completely visible since my nose is in the midst of Project Skin-Peeling anyway.) So, she's sending me to an allergist.. I have an appointment tomorrow at 12:30. I guess it's just as well, since
starrflowerr has convinced me that my problems could well be my allergies, as we seem to have very similar difficulties.
So.. not much else to say, except that the little dots have only gotten worse since this morning. They were flat this morning, for the most part, but now some of them are quite bumpy. They covered my neck by the time I got to the doctor, and spread onto my face by afternoon. Sometime between this morning and this afternoon, they spread onto my calves--there was nothing there when I was at the doctor. They seem to fade a little periodically and then get brighter. They didn't itch, this morning, but it does now. I thought at first that it was just that I was aware of it, but they're sort of making my skin crawl.. which makes me scratch it, which makes my other skin rash pop up. (By the way, I got a diagnosis on that this afternoon from Dr. Google--it looks like dermatographism. Obviously, I'm going to see if I can get a second opinion from someone who actually went to medical school, but that's pretty much exactly what the other rash I've complained about looks like at its worst, and how it behaves. Not that I finally found this today by compulsively looking at pictures of various rashes using the Google Image thingy. Of course not.)
My husband just made the worst joke ever. He asked if I was writing a rash post. I said yes, and he claimed that I shouldn't do that. "Do what?" I asked, confused. (Where can I complain about my rash if not here?!) "Post in anger," he said. Badaboom.
