Friday! It did work! No work tomorrow! After five days, I'm more than ready for a break. I feel like I really accomplished something this week.. I actually made it there every day, even though I was only supposed to work four days, and I did it all while sick. There's no way I would have been there if I hadn't been leaving next week. I'm feeling a lot better today. I have lots of coughing issues but I don't feel sick anymore, so that's good.
Yesterday, four of us were sitting at work talking about the stairs outside the building. They're not in the right spot--the door in front of them stays locked, so you have to walk out of your way to get to the stairs so you can get back where you started. Very inefficient. So, of course, most of us walk through the grass, even though it's been suggested that we not do that because it's not as safe as the steps. (Actually, I disagreed during the winter months, when the steps turned into a thick layer of ice, but okay.) This morning, I went out to WalMart during my morning break, and as always, I walked down the hill to my car through the grass. (The hill is just.. maybe three foot taller than the parking lot, but sloped, obviously, so is a little bigger than three feet.) And, guess what? I fell. I walked there during the winter when there was snow, I've walked in the rain, I've walked there when the leaves fell from the trees and covered the ground with slipperiness. Not once have I fallen until today, just after we all talked about how we walk through the grass and it's perfectly safe.
See? It's everywhere, Alanis.
I guess I should add that I didn't hurt myself. My ankle feels a little tired, like it would if I over-used those muscles.. which, I guess, I did. I didn't even get dirty, which is a miracle because the reason I slid was because it rained a lot last night and the grass was damp and the ground was soft and slightly smooshy. I was just afraid that someone would have seen me, but if so, no one has mentioned it. Of course, here I am telling the entire Internets, so apparently it didn't bother me that much. Shouldn't have told M, though, because he called me on two separate occasions to remind me not to fall down. And oh,yeah, I'm short. He's a dork but I love him.
A nap would be good.
