I bet it sucks to be PayPal because if they had a legitimate reason to send email to their customers, it would never be read because everyone would assume it was spam. Then again, all that money probably soothes the hurts.

I said something extremely funny today, and.. well, I really didn't mean what I said, but that didn't matter so much because as soon as it was out of my mouth, M was laughing hysterically. We were talking about books, and short stories, and M was saying that all you really need for a short story is a really good scene, but you can't base a book on one really good scene. And I said, "Well, you sorta can. Robert Jordan did."

M was skeptical. "Really? Which scene was that?"

And I said... "Dunno, haven't read it yet, we're still waiting." Which M found really funny because it was the bitchiest thing I've said all day, and about a series which he was previously under the assumption that I enjoyed. (Which I do, of course.) This might be funnier if you knew that a major complaint people have with RJ is that he's so wordy, and entire books go by without all that much happening. M has given up--at book nine or so--and stopped reading each new book as it's released, preferring to wait until he finally gets done before he gets back into it. Anyway, for the WoT nerds, what I meant was that he (Robert Jordan) has said many times that he knew how it ended before he started writing, and that if he had written it then, it would have been exactly the same, minus wording changes, as if he had written it now. Which is, of course, basing several books on one good (oh, please let it be good) scene. Oh, well. Maybe you would have had to have been there.

We've had a pretty good 4th of July. We've been productive for the most part, but we threw in a bit of computer game time as a bonus. I'm a little depressed that I have to go back to work tomorrow, but you can't have everything, I guess. At least it's a short week, and one of the short-day weeks. It's a long time until Labor Day, though. :) This year has flown by. It was like, New Years - sick - summer. That could possibly be because those horrible, horrible days of sick all the time sort of blended together in my mind. I have a feeling that the rest of the year is going to go by just as quickly. What happened to all those slow-moving days? It used to feel like a year was a long time, but now it just goes by in a whirl. M and I are quickly approaching our fifth anniversary. Five years! That's a long time! That's.. err. Well, that's as many years as are between M and me. It's funny how I forget about that.
