The other night I was fiddling around online while reading a book. I read during lots of unlikely times, actually. Anyway, the book's author had a website, and I started reading her books a couple of years ago and have gradually began acquiring them, so, since I am emotionally invested to some degree, I went to look at it. Also, I have discovered that author websites are sometimes rather entertaining, and I've exchanged email with one author in the past and received promotional materials in the mail as a result. There was one page that had pictures of all the foreign editions of her novels, and I noticed that there was a note at the top saying that if you, or someone you knew, could speak that language or was learning it and would like to have the book, the author would sign it and send it to you. There was one in Swedish, and M said, "hey, go for it." And I thought, oh. I could! So I sent off a little email and got a response the next day from her daughter, who apparently handles her communication, and now, I am the proud owner of After Hours, by Vicki Lewis Thompson, in Swedish. Or, I will be, once it arrives. I thought that was pretty neat.

One more mud-related thing and then I think I'll be done talking about it because it makes no sense to people who haven't been there, and everyone else is over it--as am I, until the last few weeks--but this is a followup on something I said Sunday. My first love, Hysteria, reopened officially yesterday. (hyst.ath.cx 6715). I have no words to describe how profoundly odd it is to be back there. It's like remembering your human first love, in many ways, and thinking that it's amazing that you crammed so many laughs and so many tears into such a small amount of time, and how it seemed so important at the time but yet, life goes on even after it's over. I guess that's how I feel about mudding, in general. It's just not fascinating anymore.. but then again, I'll continue to think of it much more warmly than I do my first 'love'. ;)
