It is an unbelievably pretty day today, and I have been in desperate need of some spousal quality time. Because we are uncreative, that meant copying
starrflowerr and heading to what is known as the Game Farm, quite near where I work. I confess that I didn't really know anything much about it, but her pictures were good so we were inspired. However, now I can't post most of the pictures we took cause she already did.. ;) We had a nice time, though.. we even took a bit of a hike along one of the woodsy trails, which was supposed to be about a mile. Not that this is all that insanely long or anything, but we tend to be spoilsports about that kind of thing.

Like my little animation? I know the quality is crap but that's what happens when you make it a gif. I just love Secret Agent Josephine's slideshows and I am a geek and I wanted to try making my own since she posted instructions a while back. We have taken more than our fair share of pictures of us in similar fashion, with M holding the camera way up and pressing the button. This is by far the best one, though. Note that he is a foot taller than me.. no wonder the boy calls me up at work sometimes just to tell me I'm short. I KNOW.
Anyway, after the game farm, we were pretty much starving, so we headed to phase two of our plan, which was to walk around downtown Frankfort, eat at a restaraunt we've never been to, and possibly go in a museum or take a tour or two. We ended up at a Italian-ish place.. well. I was calling it Kentalian in my head earlier. I think they were representing themselves as Italian but it was more like a diner than an Italian restaraunt. Okay, anyway. It was quite, quite good, so we were very happy about that part--we rarely go downtown and I don't think we've ever eaten down there. We went into the antique store next door for a minute, and that was a total waste of time. It was manned by an old man flipping through a magazine. We hadn't been in the store a full minute--we were exuberantly greeted.. I don't think they get many customers, which really isn't a surpise because they were overpriced like mad--when he let off with a massive, ground-shaking burp. M and I just kind of looked askance at each other.. it was a rather odd, awkward little moment. What do you say to strangers burping greetings at you? That just isn't right. ;)
At this point, we consulted our feet, who said, "hey, really, I wasn't so fond of phase two anyway, alright? Let's skip to phase four." We convinced them that phase three really needed to be put into effect first, so we went off to the luxury Kroger and bought all the stuff for our FoodTV-style dinner. Seriously. We decided that we would cook for the process of cooking tonight, and found recipes from the FoodTV site accordingly, and making way way too much food for just us. We're having homemade gnocchi with a butter and thyme sauce, stuffed mushrooms, and bacon crispy things. The bacon crispy things got added to the menu at the last moment--gee, how could you tell--because Paula Deen was making them on TV as we were talking about what to have, and my boy is a major sucker for bacon, and if you combine bacon and cheese? It was a requirement. I'm not too sure how they're going to turn out, though.. we had to use the oven rack because we don't have a baking rack, and we have a pan underneath them to catch drippings and all, but they're softening (it's cracker-based) and falling down to the pan because the holes are too big. I'm a bit afraid it will be a greasy mess. But hey, the boy will eat them anyway so no loss, right? :) It's been a lot of fun, cooking with the boy. The whole day has been fun, actually. I wish every day were Saturday!
Anyway, it's just about time to get back downstairs and finish up with the cooking. Hope it turns out half as good as I'm expecting it too!
