Still sick. I feel like a moron because I assured
starrflowerr on Wednesday that I was sure I was getting better even though I sounded worse, when in fact I was on the way down. I am going to refrain from writing about being sick, except to say that I left early yesterday and am home today. Regrettable in that I have things that need done, but what can you do?
The gift exchange on Wednesday went pretty well, if you were dying of curiosity as to what I ended up buying. On Tuesday morning, after I had called in, M said, "hey, can I take your car to work?" And I said, "sure, if you'll stop on your way home to buy the gift." And that is how M ended up picking out the present and buying a battery charger, which I maintain that everyone needs and few people know they need. But, you know, he wanted to buy a plastic light-up donkey so I think that the person who got it should at least be thankful that I said no to THAT. ;) I ended up with a knitting-pattern-a-day calendar. I had to steal it, too, but there was some mighty relief on the face of the guy I stole it from, so that's okay.
Let's hope I don't need to go anywhere today. M went out this morning to start the car--yes, my car. Boy won't drive his own if he can steal mine. He tried to get into his car because his music was in his car.. and the door handle wouldn't open because of the ice. What's disturbing about that is that last time he tried to get into that car and it was frozen over, we ended up with a car a broken door handle--the passenger door can only be opened from the inside. (As I am the one that rides on that side, not him, this bothers me much more than him.) However, if we now have a door that cannot be opened from ANY door (there are four doors but of course, it's locked and you can't open the back doors with a key.) then that will be a Problem.
I have been trying to get my Christmas shopping done online this year, or at least some of it. M and I have done a bit of a role reversal this year, and where he wants nothing in particular, I want everything. He always has a list ten miles long of what he wants and I can usually never think of anything. We have been less thrifty this year and I think it's catching up to us. So for once, I have to shop for him based on what I think he wants instead of what he says he wants, and I just found something that I am really excited about. I want to buy one for everyone! Because it is so cool! But then maybe I am just a dork because I don't think everyone would necessarily want one of these. But still.
Nothing much else is going on except my washing machine just tried to beat a hole through the wall. I hate it when it does that, especially with the stairs. I'm sitting right on top of it, but the stairs point the other way, so it takes a relatively long time to get to the kitchen. (Pardon me while I bitch about the laundry closet being in the kitchen again. Man, I hate that.) M is at work, but he gets to come home at four with the new schedule so we are totally loving that. Not that it does us much good tonight because it's not like I'm gonna wanna go somewhere, but still. On other Friday nights it will be really neat!
