happy birthday mommy!
Jan. 5th, 2006 10:25 pmI called my dad yesterday to ask him what we were going to do about my mom's birthday. You may remember that my dad turned 50 back in October. Well, my mom is turning 50.. today. "Oh, we're going to go out and eat and surprise her tomorrow night at six at Reno's." . . . Oookay, thanks for letting me know! :p I get off work at 4:30. It is a 90-minute drive to Morehead, and that's not allowing for time to get home and meet M. So I talked him into 6:30, but there was really no way to get out of going since we arranged a big party for dad and so it would be pretty hard to not show up at Mom's birthday party, wouldn't it? So, we spent three hours tonight in the car to spend two hours dining at a restaurant that was singularly unimpressive. (It went in after we moved so we've never been there.) But... my mommy was pretty happy so that's all that matters. She was actually feeling quite down because no one was really calling her to say happy birthday, etc, and then she walked into the restaraunt (thinking it was just them meeting my aunt and uncle) to see her entire extended family. M and I ended up having a pretty nice evening ourselves. We can get pretty grumpy when our at-home time is interrupted but we knew it was going to happen tonight so it was somehow okay. Forewarned is forearmed, that sort of thing. And we had excellent conversation on the way home, which made the whole evening worth it if nothing else did.
My parents bought me a fuzzy soft blue robe for Christmas and it is like wearing a cloud. It is like wearing a cloud if a cloud were to be sensationally soft and fluffy and light like it looks instead of cold and icy and uncomfortable, as a cloud probably is in all truth, anyway. Seriously, I've never had anything quite like it on my person before. I was afraid it might get annoying, especially when freshly showered, but no. Love it. You should all buy yourself a soft fuzzy robe. And slippers. Did I mention that I bought myself a pair of slippers the week before Christmas and then insisted that M had to say he bought them for me? I needed the slippers so I could stand to be on our stupid tile floors in the kitchen for my holiday baking day, but WalMart had a pretty slim selection, and the only pair I could find that really suited what I was looking for have words written on the top of each foot--specifically "Sugar" and "Baby". They're great for my feet but when I realized that I bought myself slippers with endearments on them I felt a little dumb. So... My husband bought them for me!
Also, I have been plagued for the last three days by a twitch in my right eye. It's so weird, but it will not go away! As a matter of fact, I think all the exercise it's getting has actually made my eyelid stronger and it is now able to twitch harder. My eye is honestly sore, and it can't be helping my headache. I have no idea what's causing it but I rather wish it would stop. I think I have a headache/eye-twitching virus. I have never before heard of such a thing but I'm pretty sure that such a thing must exist. Obviously. Since I have it and all. It's probably contagious, I'd better stay home from work tomorrow...
