First, and most importantly, thank you all so much for your congratulations and kind words and support and anti-freak-out magic. Right now our household is (understandably, I think) a little preoccupied, but there isn't really all that much of it that needs retelling. (Mostly, we're just walking around and suddenly turning to the other and saying "DO YOU KNOW WHAT WE DID?") We have scheduled our home inspection, though, for Tuesday morning (first available.) And the pest inspection for Wednesday afternoon.. we don't have to be there for that one, though. So, we're pretty much on the ball, if I do say so ourselves. The realtor kept emphasizing yesterday when he called that we needed to really get going on this, and he sure can't say we've delayed. We need to iron out some details regarding property lines.. the realtor was talking about having surveys done (which we're supposed to pay for, of course) but my dad was saying that the owner needs to be able to show us where the property lines are, and it should be on some sort of paperwork already. I don't know what we're going to do there. I do know that it feels very wrong for the prospective buyers to find out for themselves what the property includes. Maybe that's the way it's done but it sure feels weird to me. We also have a meeting for Monday afternoon with a mortgage person, but it's unclear as to whether or not we will go with that company. We'll need to be finding someone else asap otherwise.
That's pretty much all the house news. I have been threatening to turn the extra room into a craft room, complete with a walk-in closet for all my yarn and string and shuttles because they take up a lot of space, you know. ;) M gets the basement to play with his wood (HA! I am so funny!) so I should get a room of my own, too, right? :) And boyo, if you say that the laundry room is mine, I shall whop you. (But, you have to know, the laundry room IS mine. I just refuse for it to count as MY room when M gets a whole basement!)
Also, nerd girls might have spent the evening playing with Photoshop in order to change the color of her prospective living room walls. Yes, we have a few pictures of the inside, but they're not very good. Our camera takes excellent pictures outdoors and crummy ones indoors. Sad, really. But we might take some to share on Tuesday, assuming all goes well.
And we went to Lowe's tonight. We didn't buy anything, but we walked around holding hands and smiling from ear-to-ear at each other, occasionally stopping to smooch and speak urgently of light fixtures, in the warm glow of shopping for the house. It was totally obvious exactly what category we fit in--obnoxiously cute couple buying first home. Three people actually vomited when they saw us. We are so spending too much money there, I can tell it already.
One of the things that we're going to be spending too much money on in the near future is a refrigerator. Anyone have one that they love? Which style is best? I think I want a side-by-side type, and I'm not entirely sure how wide it can be. M is fussing at me about price, so I guess I'll not be starting off with the KitchenAid brand. Just to match my mixer, you understand!
Think I might have spent the last fifteen minutes slouched down in my chair, totally asleep at my desk. Think I'll go to bed now...
