Happy Valentine's Day
Feb. 14th, 2006 09:29 pmTo celebrate the holiday, boyo and I walked around the yard taking pictures of all the ugly stuff, cooked and ate a semi-elaborate meal for a weekday (involving pork smothered in carmelized onions and mashed potatoes) and then played a game together. Or, basically.. we didn't do much different today than usual. It's funny how Valentine's Day means a lot when you're single and not so much when you're married. Or at least that's the way it has been with us, and this year we have done less than usual, given that last week we plunked down a rather large sum of money. Wait, that's not true. I bought M a ha-ha type of card and bought some light bulbs and wrapped them up for him. He made me a card that was the height of adorableness but which he will not let me scan. It involves artwork, including a self-portrait. We had agreed not to buy presents and then.. I bet you're wondering what kind of crack I was on to buy my husband light bulbs for Valentine's Day, don't you? He went on two separate rants regarding those little light bulbs while moving into the house. He prefers the ones where the tip is not curved or bent, you know, but the ones that are smooth with a relatively blunt tip. Apparently he feels strongly about it, so I forked over the $1.67 to keep the boy happy. I know, I am a fabulous wife.
Umm.. other than that, nothing much going on here. I had a miserable night's sleep last night, tossing and turning because I was horribly queasy but not really awake enough to be aware of what was actually wrong with me. I was afraid it was going to turn out to be the stomach flu but I've felt fine the rest of the day. I think last night's potatoes-like-Mom-makes didn't quite agree with my stomach. Probably a sign that I should stick with my way.
