I am not a happy camper. I just spent an hour and a half editing a document that I didn't feel like editing, something for M that I did not really begrudge doing but really didn't want to do it RIGHT NOW because I wanted to be unpacking some stuff in the computer room. And, I SAVED it. I did! The entire time I was working on it and then before I closed it! But somehow, the Word gnomes were offended that I had edited it after opening it from my email, and promptly replaced all my lovely changes with the original version in some irretrievable manner. There was depression and that sick feeling that you get in your stomach and I spent a good five minutes with my head on my desk letting the boy rub my back and whisper soothing words while my eyes watered of their own accord. (No sobs, but plenty of sadness.) So now I have spent three hours working on it, totally ruined my mood and it is no longer finished. Yay, good job K!
Anyway, going to pretend that didn't happen. I fell asleep on M last night while watching TV and so I never quite made it in here to post. We did a lot of freaking work last night, and managed to clear out most of the boxes from the sunroom, clean the big closet (including the carpet) and do all our laundry for the week. Not bad for a Friday night! My parents came down today, and after a leisurely lunch (following a failed trip to Lawrenceburg for a bbq restaurant that turns out to be in Nicholasville) out, we returned home, where I put my parents promptly to work. My mom shortened the blinds in the house to the correct length, which is a duty which she probably doesn't care a lot for but she a) knows how and b) is good at it. I have been waiting for her to come back for that because blinds with two inches of spare slats bunched up at the bottom really irritates me. Meanwhile, my dad and M installed a dimmer switch in the living room/dining room.. one of the knobs was missing and we could buy the whole box for approximately the same amount as a new knob, so we went for it. Then they found that the light in the basement, which we thought would fit on the fan in the bedroom.. didn't. So they went to Lowe's to buy one, and returned home to install it. I can flip a switch now, and have light! Whee! They also replaced the.. thingie that goes at the bottom of a door to keep cold air from coming in, and also hung up the last remaining blind in the laundry room. Then they were done working, so we made them leave. Ha! No, I'm kidding. By the time Mom shortened that last blind, Dad was hovering because he wanted to get on the road home.
Short recap of conversation that took place today:
K: Oh! Dad, how much did we owe you for renting the U-haul?
Dad: Ahhh, don't worry about it. We'll take care of it.
K: No, that's not right. You can't pay for our moving truck!
Mom: Well, maybe you'll just have to come down a few Saturdays when we start remodeling our house, help us paint and put new carpet in.
K: ... I'd really rather pay you for the truck.
In other news, my hair was really cute today. To commemorate the occasion, I stayed home almost all day. Whee!
