This morning, I went to work and it was Wednesday. This afternoon, I came home and it was Friday.

See, here's how the crazy is. Usually, when there is a situation in which I think it's valid, I will try to talk the boy into taking off work when I'm home for some reason or another. (I work for the state. It's not quite bank holidays but close.) But the boy, he had last Thursday and Friday off, then he worked three and a half days and is off until Tuesday.. but he didn't suggest that I take off work, too, so we could have a little mini-vacation. And.. I am embarrassed to even write this because our marriage is NOT like this, but I was tempted to say that well, if he had wanted me to try to stay home with him, he would have mentioned it so *I* wouldn't suggest it. I was kind of thinking maybe he wanted me gone or something so he could have some alone time or something. But then today, I realized that... that's what certain family members would do, not what I do, so I brought it up at lunch, and M looked all pleased and said, "I didn't think of that! Yeah, do that!" . And so I came back to work and asked my lovely boss at extremely short notice if I could have the rest of the week off, and voila! Insta-weekend! Plus Monday, so we now have a five-day weekend together! It is fantastic! So I did not end up cutting off my nose to spite my face, and instead, there will be Much Good

To celebrate, we started stripping wallpaper from the bedroom. And, it is not fun. It's actually coming off better than we had anticipated but I think we're going to be doing a lot of patching in the rough spots. Can someone tell me something? Why would someone feel the need to go around the windows and door in that room with a waterproof sealant? It just makes no sense. Do you regularly hose down your bedroom?? It's all shiny and weird and rubbery, so getting it off is not exactly all that fantastically easy. By accident, though, I did happen to note that fabric softener loosens it, so that should help.

Oh, btw, I just wanted to say... I <3 Morton. (Morton is a character in M's book, and since I am nearly done editing it again, I'm thinking about it a lot.) M keeps being surprised at the depth of my love for Morton. (I also have some Brae love, but duh, how can a female not like Brae?) As a matter of fact, during my first round through the book, I professed such Morton love that he went back and fleshed him out a bit further, and also came up with a concept for an entire book about Morton. Morton is my friend.

We have a lot of things planned for this weekend, but the basic idea is that we're going to casually work on the bedroom, go shopping (including for furniture) make lists (okay, that one is me) and do general house things that we've been working on, and we also have a LotR moviethon planned, plus tonight was Harry Potter IV night. Five days! Can't remember the last time we had five days in a row together. I'm more than a little excited.
