sears rant, really boring, sorry.
May. 25th, 2006 10:18 pmAdvice: don't buy anything from sears.com. Because, they suck. And now I have two options: I can either drive to Lexington tonight, or I can pay 10% more for the stupid bandsaw, and let's just forget about the order I placed last night for the thing to be delivered to Frankfort, for the Frankfort Sears laughs in the face of your frustration (although they will gladly call you FIVE TIMES during the day, three of those being hang-ups on the answering machine.) I received an email stating that the order was ready to be picked up (this was questionable since we happened to know that they don't carry bandsaws, but since we were just going to have it shipped there, who cares? Then the phone calls started, with the woman--let's call her Patricia, since that's her name--desperately wanting to let me know that the order will be ready May 31. Okay. When I got home this evening, though, I had more messages, letting me know that I need to call Majrakjhdiw at Sears about my order. (I eventually found out that she meant to say "Mary" but she took the blah-blah-blah message seriously.) This is when the real fun and games began!
Mary wanted to let me know that Patricia said I needed to cancel my order through the website so the store could place my order. I thought that was a) dumb and b) suspicious, so I questioned her about it and was told that they needed to order it from the store instead of through the website. (Which is.. exactly what she had already said.) I explained that last night, I received 10% off for ordering it between 9 pm and 6 am, hence the whole ordering it online thing, instead of picking it up in Lexington to begin with. I mention this, and she began to see my reluctance in canceling, but for some reason, decided that hey, maybe I should call the Lexington store. (WTF?) But because I am getting nowhere with Majrakjhdiw, I call Sears in Lexington and throw myself at the mercy of Power Tools. (Btw, on the purchase of voice-activated menu systems: JUST SAY NO.) I talked to a very nice associate who was a) just as confused as I was as to why Frankfort wanted me to call them, and b) readily seeing my point in why I didn't want to cancel my order and c) really nice. She told me to call the sears.com phone number, and that if I canceled the order and purchased it from them, she could give me the 10% off. So, phone call to sears.com. They canceled the stupid order. I called Lexington back. They have one in stock... but you can only buy it by phone if you have a Sears card. And nice sales girl who can give me the discount... doesn't work any more this week.
Okay, this was totally boring but I can't rant to M yet because he's not off work. Argh. I'm sorry.

I didn't finish this and now it is later Ooh, profound. We did not go to Lexington so we do not possess a sale-price bandsaw. M is even more pissy regarding Sears than I am, and he has resolved to either fix it with anger or buy a different stupid bandsaw. (He didn't use the word stupid, that was my artistic license coming through.) Either way is good with me. I was disappointed, though, because I had finally made up my mind to buy the (stupid) thing and get it over with, and he was excited.
We had a big ugly drama queen storm here tonight, and M made me turn off the computer. (When I say "made" I mean "guilted me into", of course.) I tried to call two different people (
stewlis and my mama) and no one answered, and I really didn't feel like reading, so I had to CLEAN. Isn't that awful? How unfair! Or something. Oh, and three-day weekend is coming up, and one in which M has the day off, too. (beyond rare.) I'm supposed to have a four-day weekend but I am giving it up in order to take Friday off. Bah. Two three-day weekends in a row aren't too shabby, though. :) This week has been ten thousand years long, though, so it's about darned time.
