Jun. 24th, 2006 11:22 pmThis weekend's outing consolidation was a rousing success. We've had a lot of fun, and now it's Saturday night and we're at home, with no need to go anywhere tomorrow. We have decided that we should do that more often.. though I'm not so sure it's popular with my family. Sometimes I feel like breathing isn't popular with the family, though, so what can you do?
Anyway, tonight was the midsummer picnic at the Scandinavian Heritage thing, which was nice. Not as lovely as some previous years, perhaps, but still nice. This is the fourth time we've been.. sometimes it surprises me how long we've been involved. Also, it really surprises me that we are involved at all.. did you get the memo on how we are not joiners? Mr. Vice President, Sir, was in charge of starting the meeting and doing the prayer, since the president couldn't attend. There is a tradition of saying the Lord's prayer in Swedish before every meal, which was always said by a lovely lady who sadly passed away this winter. M felt a little awkward about it, I think, but he was cute, and apparently there was much beaming. Oh, and there were fresh gooseberries, and he was very, very happy about that. I've never even seen gooseberries here before. My verdict: weird, but okay. Not something that I would crave.. but then, I'm really not a berry person anyway. Except for strawberries.
Also, I just wanted to add that I am sending a billion good thoughts and lots of luck to
stewlis, who is heading off tomorrow to move to Japan for a few years. I can't even imagine picking everything up and heading to Japan. I hope everything goes well, chickles! Enjoy your flights.. as much as possible!
