1. M is the best husband ever. No, really, he just is. He has always been the sort of guy who takes care of me when he's able, much as I try to take care of him when I'm able, but today we have had the trifecta that brings out his protective instincts--sick, pregnant, and social. He is always extra solicitous when there are people around (not generally so they would notice) because I am antisocial and extended periods of people-noise drives me crazy. There has been hair-playing and MacGyver-humidifier filter fixing, and car fetching and unloading this evening. He even fussed at me for bending down to get my own bottle of water out of the fridge, and carried it to my desk for me so I wouldn't have to.
2. My parents came down today, and my dad helped M put in the new bathroom cabinet. For some reason known only to the people who built this house, there was an electric cable (obviously the light above the sink) coming up from the floor by the pipes and then entering the wall a few inches up. To get the cabinet in, they had to cut that wire and reconnect it in place. M and my dad were both right about part of this problem, and wrong about the other, so it was slow getting started until they figured it out. This cable was unconnected to everything else in the bathroom, as it turned out, and was actually going to an electrical outlet in the living room (other side of the wall), and therefore wired to another box than the one that turns things off in the bathroom. So, if M had been alone, he probably would have killed the power in the bathroom before he started, and he would then have cut a live wire. I feel a little queasy just thinking about that, and what could have happened. Sure, it's just 110 here but it still couldn't have been a good thing. And.. I hope that story made sense because I am not all that up on the details of these sorts of things.
3. My mom (and I) have checked five different Walmarts and one JoAnn fabric store for five yards of pink quilt binding. Is there some sort of secret society using this stuff up by the barrels or what? Why is everyone mostly out?
4. I was feeling much better today until suddenly, at about seven o'clock, it hit me that I was no longer feeling okay. It was like a switch was flipped, and I was rather miserable thereafter. And I was feeling pretty unsleepy until just now, when I yet again fell asleep at my desk. I think that's my cue.
