Evelyn does her civic duty.
May. 22nd, 2007 09:05 pmI interrupt this birth story to let you all know that we are instilling a sense of civic duty in our daughter very, very early.

I braved the big bad world today for my first solo outing with Evelyn to take her to the polls. I would like you all to consider the strength of character and the strong social responsibility I feel that would make me take my ten-day-old baby to vote in a primary (read: useless) election while recovering from surgery and still adrift in terror at taking her places by myself. I am a beacon of light in these dark times, am I not?
Okay, okay. I get paid four hours for voting. I decided it would be worth my while to venture approximately seven houses down the road for four hours of pay. You have to love working for the state sometimes. God bless America.
