We got ourselves invited to a Memorial Day picnic tomorrow. At my parents' house. That's a ninety minute drive from here! Don't they understand that we have a baby now?! We are never traveling again! I thought I was doing well to get to WalMart and to vote, etc, much less drive an hour and a half! Originally, I thought we were off the hook for the question of coming up this weekend because there were sick children, but there aren't anymore. I want to go, though, because I have an adorable baby to show off.

It is interesting (and lovely) to have M home. It is really weird. M can actually put the baby in bed when she falls asleep, and then we can do other things than sit on the couch and hold her. It's really weird. Obviously, I have that capability as well, but it stresses me out when I'm here alone to keep an ear open for something going on in another room. I find myself running in to check on her a thousand times, which interrupts what I'm trying to accomplish. When he's home, though, I figure that one of us will hear her. It's especially irritating because I know that she's fine even when I'm checking on her constantly. I hesitate to even mention this because I'm sure someone will think, geez, what morons they are, but we bought a super-fancy monitor that goes off with a loud beeping alarm if there is no movement for twenty seconds. It picks up breathing as movement, and it really does work--we haven't had a false alarm yet, but when we pick her up and forget to turn the thing off, it goes off (usually just after we have stumbled back to bed with her.) We love that thing. We do everything else that they say to do to prevent SIDS, but the monitor helps us sleep. ;)

I promised myself that I would spend this hour working on a specific chore that I've been neglecting. It's now been 45 minutes and I haven't even started. I am soo on the ball. So many things to do, so little time... I guess I should go do some of the stuff on my list, though. Or watch TV. One or the other.
