M's birthday + vacation = lovely day!
Jul. 2nd, 2007 11:11 pmToday is
totte's birthday! Happy birthday, M! For your birthday, I carried a nine pound baby around in my uterus and let them cut her out of me with sharp things! You're welcome! Also, I bought you a router, but I am not done pointing out that whole growing a baby thing yet. Anyway, happy birthday to my favoritest boy in the whole world!
I volunteered to make M a birthday cake, Swedish style, with strawberries and jam and whipped cream, but he respectfully declined, the big dork, and asked for ribs instead. He is simply oozing with testosterone sometimes. I was actually looking forward to the cake so I was a bit disappointed, but how can you make someone a birthday cake "for them" when they ask you not to? Then it would be baking myself a birthday cake for M's special day and that just strikes me as not cool. I might have to make a vacation cake later in the week or something. Anyway, that meant that we had to go grocery shopping on his birthday. But we also had to go buy his router at Lowe's, and take some checks to the bank. Then I called my fine employer HR lady to inquire about why Evelyn received a letter informing her of her dropped insurance coverage and Cobra benefits. She was properly aghast and started making calls for me, which culminated in her asking if I could fax a copy of the letter to the insurance people. I don't have a fax machine so we just stopped in at work so she could do it for me, and I got to show off my baby again. :) We were heading out anyway so it worked out well.
Anyway, then we did the grocery shopping. You know how sometimes, even though you feel like a dork, you do something silly because no one you know is around anyway? We were past the dairy section and heading back toward the front of the store when Evelyn became completely fascinated by the handle on her car seat. She cooed and laughed at it, for no reason that M or I could see, but it was so sweet. M pulled out his phone to take a picture of her, but then I remembered that I had our camera in my purse, so I got it out, and we pulled our cart aside so we could take pictures of our sweet, sweet baby at our leisure. Yes, we are new parents and we are compulsive picture-takers. And, that's about when someone stopped their cart beside ours and turned to us and said, "Hi. I'm
sunflower_pixie!" So, we totally got caught being dorks with cameras in the grocery store, and by someone we had never even officially met, to boot. :) I don't think we have ever been recognized from the internet before, either. Nice to meet you, S!
But--wouldn't YOU have taken a picture of this even if you looked a little dopey?
