Baby is asleep in her crib for the first time ever. We're hoping that tonight will be the first night she sleeps in her own room instead of ours. Big steps! Of course, she still has plenty of time to wake up and scream, so we'll see how it goes. I snickered to myself yesterday as M assured the pediatrician that we aren't coddling her to sleep. The man walks her around the house for hours if she so desires! How exactly could he exert more energy into helping her fall asleep? (She is, of course, awake already. We'll see if she has any sort of hope of falling asleep on her own like the pediatrician said we should try for.)

M also put together a mobile for the crib tonight. It's an ocean wonders type, and she seems to really like it. Who cares about that, though, because M and I love it. We're thinking of buying one for our room. Okay, not really. But, maybe we can have hers once she's done with it. It lights up the ceiling in a pretty little rotating pattern of stars and swirls. I would rather like to fall asleep watching that on my ceiling, too! Although, I am blind as a bat so I wouldn't even be able to see it, probably, but still.

Family drama update! Do you remember my stories about the pregnant semi-cousin who I resented the hell out of even hearing about? She gave birth in January, after a pregnancy full of drugs and smoking, and proceeded to leave her baby with various family members for days at a time? Well, my aunt went on vacation last week. While she was gone, this girl goes into her house and takes some of her spare checks, and proceeds to go use them all over town to buy drugs, a hotel room for a week ($400) and who knows what else, to the tune of over a thousand dollars. My aunt (surprisingly) did go to her bank and report the situation, and they gave her the money back and filed a report with the police. The police came and picked her up and took her to jail. I found out tonight that she was released from jail... for whatever reason.. and guess where she went? GUESS. YES. She went straight to my aunt's house. For the love of cheese and very fine fudge, my aunt let her come stay with her, after she had stolen money from her. I cannot freaking believe that she still welcomes her back home after all she's done. She did leave, but she left her baby. *sigh* Wtf is wrong with people?
