Rude Awakenings
May. 6th, 2008 10:35 pmI was awakened at 5:30 this morning by cold water being dumped unceremoniously over me. Are you outraged that M would do such a thing? You shouldn't be! He was sleeping soundly. The culprit was... me. Sometime between 3:30 and 4:30, I woke up (squawky baby) and reached out for my water bottle. I had a terrible, terrible middle-of-the-night thirst. I uncapped it and drank, and laid my head back down while swallowing carefully before taking a second drink. Then I apparently fell asleep, still clutching the bottle of water. I held this stupid bottle for an hour or two before I felt the need to roll over (it seems) and that's when I dumped the bottle of water all over myself. It drenched everything from the pillow down to about my waist. Seriously. WTF? I fell asleep while drinking?
Then my sweet, sweet husband got up for the day (half an hour early) so I could sleep on his side of the bed. I was laying a towel over it, and then covering that up with a fresh sheet so it wouldn't be scratchy, and it didn't even occur to me at first that that is why he got up. I thought he just woke up because of the noise I was making and decided to get up. Silly boy. Sweet, but silly. I could have fixed it! Or slept on the couch or something! He was already in the shower by the time I figured it out or I would have argued with him. He spoils me rotten.
I have a migraine this evening and I had to give over the baby to M after an hour and forty-five minutes of failed putting-to-sleep. I just couldn't stand it anymore. Strangely, it seems to be feeling some better after I got up and moved around a little. I'm going to go rest for a few minutes before I take over the sleep project again. She's worn out, so I don't know why she is resisting sleep. We're at 2.5 hours and counting now. Sadly, it is not at all uncommon that she does this. Sometimes, she just does not seem to be able to fall asleep.
Umm. Maybe it was because we fed her some ice cream half an hour before bedtime? Now that I think about it... duh.
Oh, cutest thing ever. She has started playing peekaboo by covering her eyes with her hands. It is SO CUTE. We were playing that with her at dinner, and then a few minutes later, we got up to put dishes away. M looked over at her and she was looking at him and signing "more". "More what?" he asked, and she covered her eyes with her hands! She answered the question! She wanted more peekaboo! It was adorable. Really. My ovaries are still twitching. Oh, and she will do signs when requested now, which is awesome. Milk, more, daddy and cheese, mainly. All the important things. ;)
