So, four nerds get together in real life and it turns out that they don't have time to post. Well, I guess we would have had time if not for a certain sometime who has lots of ideas and lots of delegation. ;) I think I ended up taking over her Swiper the Fox costume project. My fingers were itching for the glue gun anyway. I told her I was going to steal it in payment for my hard work. She looked a little surprised but agreed. (Ha! Don't worry, I don't steal from my houseguests. I have my own glue gun. I just have no projects with which to use it. I am so happy with how my part of Swiper turned out. Carrie had a bag full of upholstery foam but we stalled on how to actually carve a tail from it. Suggestions ranged from drawing a tail onto the back of his pants to adding a felt flap in place of a tail, when I had a moment of (dare I say it?) brilliance. The tail is three layers of felt, cut so that it's floofy (real word, of course) and jaggedy, attached upside down and flipped over with snaps so that it has a natural gather AND is removable, and with multi-colored tips. It's hard to explain but it is TEH AWESOME.

We think that Evelyn will need to be Swiper next year. I first laughed and asked what the chances were that E would be able to wear the thing by this time next year but then realized that all I would need to do is put new snaps in another pair of pants! Awesome! It is really cute, and I would love to show you what it looks like, but Carrie and Mike refuse to go wake Erik up to try it on. They are so mean.

I might as well direct you to her post, if you haven't read it. I think most of my LJ friends overlap with hers. In it, the exciting adventure of RiteAid and the manager who did not understand the concept of something already being paid for. I am corrupting another innocent bystander into a free-shop-aholic! Woohoo!

Hmmm. Carrie abandoned her cake to go play Guitar Hero (again) and she is still rocking out. Luckily, she is stuck on a song that I really like, or I might be ready to tear my hair out. I think that they might be the proud owners of a Wii soon.

I went into E's room today with her on my hip, and I slipped on a hat. That's a definite risk in this household. Hardwood floors and hats. Anyway, my right big toe kinda of bent down and I landed on one knee. No big fall or anything, but a loud thud and a muttered oath. Evelyn thought it was hilarious. She laughed her goofy little head off and said "BOOM! BOOM!" And now, my toe is sore, and though I have requested sympathy from all the others in this house, THERE WAS NONE TO BE HAD. Sneef.

Okay, today's cute story. When M called me this morning to say that he was at work, I let Evelyn talk to him for a minute. She had just woken up and had asked for her daddy first thing. When we hung up, I put the phone on the bed and walked away. She grabbed it and said, "Dada?" I told her that Dada was at work and we couldn't call him right now. She flipped the phone open, held it to her ear and said, "Dada? Home." Then I melted into a sad little puddle onto the floor.

p.s. Carrie is hands down the most entertaining, energetic Wii-player that I have ever seen, ever. She also has commentary. For instance, she did not know that one could die in Super Mario Galaxy. (You...can.) She also requested that some unsanitary and unsavory acts be performed in a rhyming fashion to poultry. She is jumping around and dancing about and Mario is flailing desperately. And you should have seen her last night when we were racing knitted cows...
