Dec. 12th, 2008

I am feeling sort of dizzy and queasy and headachey today. It started before I went to bed last night (or, technically, after I fell asleep on the couch nursing a baby) and continued during my middle-of-the-night wakening and then again this morning. I had toast for lunch and I am feeling some better at the moment. Dude! Did you know that butter is REALLY GOOD? I mean, real butter. I bought some spreadable butter recently and have taken to eating it on toast and it is delicious. Fantastic. Marvelous. It is not good for my girly figure, of course, but it sure is tasty. Yum. Butter.

I have just ten minutes before I have to wake the snoozin' girl up. Things have gone so much better after we started waking her up from her naps, except sometimes I procrastinate and then she reverts to her old ways. I think she is just like her father. If he was given his way, he would probably switch over to a 36-hour day. I think she just sleeps her way into messing up her cycles. Maybe. Oh, who knows?

Yesterday morning, I was channeling [livejournal.com profile] helloheather. We were both up early, and we headed to town to do some shopping. Well, I didn't quite channel Heather because if I had, I would have fixed a healthy dinner for the evening before I left and returned home to paint the bathroom or something, and also, eaten donuts somewhere along the way, but I was out early! (Good natured teasing only... I am always envious of how much she seems to get done in the mornings.) We hardly ever go out early but I think that is partly because I do have an early napper. And because I am lazy, and more apt to climbing the walls from boredom in the afternoon. Anyway, we went to Walgreens, where I purchased a boatload of stuff for a profit of a dollar, and it was Good. We also stopped at the bank and went inside, and Evelyn had a grand old time helping me put coins in the coin sorter (long story, strangely) and then pointing at a picture of Santa and saying "Merry Christmas!" (though I am the only one who would have recognized "Maaooo Mooahmah" as Merry Christmas, of course) and then getting excited about the chairs and the tree in the lobby. I kind of enjoyed letting her wander around in there for a few minutes because I am a stay at home mom. I am not in a hurry. It is hard to be patient in moments like that sometimes, hurry or not, but I try hard to do it as much as is feasible. She's only little once and wouldn't it be lovely if you could find true wonder in the lobby of a bank?

Three minutes past waking, must go or there will be trouble later.
