Friday morning, Evelyn amused herself for five minutes just turning my face one way and then the other, giving me kisses on my cheek and nose and ear and other cheek and mouth and forehead. Then she asked (again) to go to Granny's house, and "see Grandpa?"

So I threw our stuff in the suitcase and took the girl to see my parents. Sometimes, you just want to say yes, you know?

It was our weekend to go up anyway, so M just drove up after he got off work. We never do this because it's a 90 minute drive and the gas cost is prohibitive for such an unnecessary expense, and then we end up with two cars up there, which is a pain in the rear. But she was so sweet about it that I couldn't resist. It must be hard to be such a little kid and not understand why we don't see certain people whenever we want to.

And then I guess we had a nice weekend, because somehow we ended up staying with them on Sunday night too, and M drove directly to work from my parents house this morning. When we got up today, I thought Evie might be okay with going home to have some alone time because she was completely worn out from all the fun, but she was clinging to my mom more than ever. We would say, "let's go have lunch!" and she would cry because she thought we were leaving Mom at home... that sort of thing.

And that is how it came to be that my mom is asleep in my sunroom tonight, and how my dad will be coming to pick her up tomorrow when he gets off work.

But really, she's not at all spoiled. ;) She just knows what she wants, and what she wants is Granny.
