Last night, I was working on the Evelyn Sleep Project, and had just told M (via the magic of internet + wireless) that it was his turn to take over. (She really prefers finishing up the falling asleep process with him these days.) He was on his way, more or less, but she didn't know that. She actually wasn't fighting me or whining or anything, she had just started talking and looking bored with me. So imagine my surprise when....

E (in semi-hateful tone) : DADDY! COME BACK HERE!

*pause* (I am pretty much ignoring her at this point. She's often calling for her Daddy during this part of the bedtime proceedings, and I know he's on his way anyway.)

E (urgently): NEED HELP!

(I am looking down in surprise, having no idea that there was anything wrong with the child laying more-or-less calmly in my lap.)

E: BABY WANTS DOWN! DADDY! COME BACK HERE!

M and I nearly died from laughing at her. She started giggling, too (she loves being funny) and that didn't make it any quicker for M to get her to go to sleep, but it was just so funny. I wish I had a recording of it. She didn't even WANT down. She wanted Daddy to come help her fall asleep. (I feel this is only fair, actually, since it is his fault that she has such a hard time falling asleep. Ha!) Well. I am sure she would have loved to get down if that had been a remote possibility but she knew that it was obviously not. Funny, funny baby.

Daddy. Need help.
